Room Hire

Facilities are available at the Quaker Meeting House for community, voluntary and educational organisations to hold meetings, classes and other functions. See below for information about the facilities which are offered and the current contribution rates (including use of kitchen).

Requests for lettings for a wide range of purposes can be considered. However, we do not allow use for ticketed events, or by individual political parties.
The room hire charges include use of our kitchen facilities, and free Wifi throughout the building.


Large Meeting Room - This is the main Quaker meeting room and is suitable for groups of up to 35 people. There are comfortable stacking chairs and tables available.

Library - A comfortable book-lined room which can seat up to 12 people.

Dining Room - Can be used for meetings which require seating at a table for 10.

A small quiet room with an armchair and 2-seater sofa
- Very private, ensuring total confidentiality.

Garden Room - A quiet place in the garden for a group of up to 12 people to meet and also well suited for one to one counselling sessions. This room is used by children for Meeting on Sunday mornings.

Room Hire Charges

The charge for hiring all rooms except the Large Meeting Room is from £8.00 to £15 per hour, depending mainly on how regular the booking is.

The charge for hiring the Large Meeting Room is from £10.00 to £17 per hour, again depending mainly on how regular the booking is.

Access for people with disabilities: There is a ramp for the front door step and 2 toilets adapted for disabled use. There is a hearing induction loop in the large Meeting Room.

Baby changing facilities are available.

The kitchen is available to serve light refreshments.

A warden or assistant is usually on site when rooms are in use.

Parking is available in close proximity to the meeting house in the Colebrook Street car park. Those with a disabled parking permit can park outside the building in any available slot. Otherwise there is a very good local bus service with the bus station located just off the Broadway, a five minute walk away.
