Rafi's death anniversary today (31st July 2009)

Posted by sudarshan pandey, kolkata on July 31, 2009 at 5:55 PM

We are thankful to God who sent Md. Rafi to this earth. Jitna bhi kahoon, sooraj ko diya dikhane ke baraabar hoga. That's why I am quoting Shankerji (of Shanker-Jaikishen duo):

"Rafi Miya was of course the best. There was some jaadoo in his voice that appealed to both the ganwar and the sophisticate. Some of his songs like Yeh aasoon mere dil ki zuban hai, touch people even today.

More important, he was a great person...a sharif man. If you told him you couldn't pay him immediately, he'd refuse to take it even later when you offered him the money.

Sometimes, a song would make him so happy, he would refuse to take the payment for singing it. The pleasure he got out of singing them was his reimbursement. He donated to charitable causes very generously and never spoke ill of anyone. No praise is enough for Rafimiya...there can never be a man like him."

Yes today is MOHAMMAD RAFI s death anniversary.May he rest in peace!
He was Gem of a person,How can we forget him as we hear so touching songs he sang for us.And our VIVIDH BHARATI always keeps on recalling his memories through the MILESTONE songs he sang.
Yesterday in SAKHI SAHELI Nimmi didi gave him tribute by this song --
Himalaya ki bulandi se suno aawaz hai aai ,Kaho maao se dain bete kahi behno se dain bhai,Vatan pe jo fida hoga amar woh naujawan hoga.
Rahegi jab talak duniya yeh AFSANA bayan hoga:)
Thanks Vividh Bharati!

There is no word in any dictionery of the world, we can praise Rafisaab. No one can comapre Rafisaab with any other singer or as a person. It impossible to find out his type of voice or his type of nature. He can not remembered only on his birthday or death anniversary. He is always with us by his songs. Thank You Rafi Saab.

A cruel blow of destiny snatched him from our midst on july 31, 1980 when he returned home after a recording (film Aass Pass song) and collapsed after suffering a massive heart attack. He had barely completed 55 when his legendary dream run came to a sudden end, leaving his countless fans in a state of shock. "TUM MUJHE YUN BHULA NA PAOGE". Very true, No one will be able to forget you, Rafi Saheb.

Nostalgia and Romance, Rafi saheb had mastery over them all. No Raga was beyond his reach and no emotion was left untouched. TRULLY UNFORGETTABLE ! Genius, like none before or after.

Hello frens !

I am not sure if we have to start new Blog for every other singer?? but right now I want to right for Kishorda here...Today is his jayanti, he wud have been 80 years old were he alive.Initially he was considered second rank singer until Aaradhana.when sachinda was not really game to give him playback singing.he was actually waiting for rafi sahab, who wasnt in india at that time so cudnot be available. And the director of the film insisted on sachin da to give him singing (Kishor da), pls correct me VBS Team if wrong....& low n behold he became the top grade & was showered with tremendous fame...unmatchable songs...mere sapno ki raani kab aayegi tu, O mere dil ke chain, chhod do aanchal jamana kya kahega?aaye tum yaad mujhey, gaaney lagi har dhadkan...pal pal dil ke paa.aass tum rehti ho...bekarar-e-dil tu gaaye ja.a.a,ye jo muhobbat hai ye unka hai kaam...mere saamneywali khidki me, ik chaand ka tukda rehta hai...khwab tum ya koyi hakikat koun ho tum batlaao...ik chatur naar kar ke singaar.r.r.main hun jhum jhum jhumru fakkad ghumu ban ke ghunghru...mere mehboob inayat Kishor da bas aise hi miltey rehna...chaltey chaltey mere ye geet yaad rakhna...baar baar yaad aata hai...

Thanks Mohanji for writing few words about our great playback singers like MUKESH and KISHORE KUMAR.
I think we dont have to need to write in separate BLOG for everybody.

We like the voice of singers those who were on their peak in our times and sang SADABAHAAR SONGS. And VIVIDH BHARATI is holding the torch to lead it forward.
We are proud since we know our playback singers are not only popular in our country but they are equally popular in many parts of the WORLD.

I still remember There was a programme named TAMEEL -E- IRSHAAD on ALL INDIA RADIO,
I used to hear most of the fanmail from our neighbouring state Pakistan:)

Rafi will be remembered by all us till we breath last. We may forget our own people or even relatives but Mohamed Rafi and his songs will ever ring in our ears and his face will be set in our heart till our end. No cinematic personality has this appeal on us , This is my humble opinion,
