The Auster(bottom right) VH-SJL, was purchased by my Father, Kevin Tulk, in the early 70's from the Southern Downs Gliding Club. It was flown to Parkes where we picked it up. I remember the flight home from Parkes to Albury as Dad did not climb above 500 feet the whole way home until we reached Albury and needed to climb over Red Light Hill. It was a great aircraft but Dad sold it to a guy in the Canberra area in the mid 70's. It is still flying with its new owner in Mt Gambier SA after being restored. We didn't use it for aerotowing as there wasn't a Gliding club around at the time, but Dad started a club soon after selling the Auster. The new club was the Albury Wodonga Soaring Association where I learned to fly as a 13yo. Great memories.
