ICARUS STRATEGY - Most notable to multiplayer stratters are the two Icarus Strategy maps. These incorporate the rarely seen aircraft class to create a totally new strategy experience with planes and spacecraft. Player warp is reduced/removed through several means and weapons hacks prevented. Uses an exciting new scrap system.
WATERWORLD DM - While waiting to get a strat game up, be sure to try out Waterworld DM map. It has submarines and airplanes to use vs. the two AI teams populating the map and other players. Or you can just watch the AI teams go at each other.
ZTV MISSION MAPS - There are also 3 mission maps where you can either ally with or battle against the other team. Allied or not, both player teams will have to defeat one or more teams of AI bad guys to complete the missions. Deathray, Saucer and Waterworld missions.
Make sure to back up your bzone.cfg file found in Battlezone II's root directory as this zip will overwrite it. Just rename bzone.cfg to stock-bzone.cfg to back it up. The new cfg is designed to work with BZNES and BZNES 2. Other mods that utilize bzone.cfg could be affected however.
Backup your bzone.cfg file found in BZ2 main directory (suggested).
Unzip to Battlezone II root directory with "use folders" options on.
Former beta testers must first delete all ZTV folders except ZTVJourney.

Constant action, yet no AI overbuilds with Zeeder's patent pending AIPs. A true multiplayer mission with characters, dialogue and sub goals. Multiple combinations of devious AIPS are used for a different game each time you play. Fight with flying scouts that warp and hover like they could be human players. Resynch reduction technology in place, smoothest 1.2 multiplayer action around. Brand new map is optimized for both low and high graphics settings users. AI that uses blink and lays proxmines makes for a better opponent. Majority of AI units are non snipable preventing newer players from interrupting AIPs. 2. How to play
YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE THE CURRENT 1.3 PATCH (Beta3) INSTALLED TO MAKE DUNECOMMAND WORK.
REMOVE ALL beta1 assets by deleting the dune folder in addon! Additionally, you may delete the older DuneC_b44.pak (and lower) with all the old beta assets.
Then simply unzip the content of the Zip file in your bz2root directory. Make sure to overwrite older files.
To reduce confusion it is a good idea to delete your addon/missions/multiplayer/3rd party/DuneCommand folder (Dune Command folder only, not the whole tree!) prior to unzipping the files.
To actually activate the mod, you can use 'Mod Manager 5'
OR you can use a short cut like this:
"path\to\Battlezone II\bzone.exe" -config "bzone_DC.cfg" -host  -win -name Fishbone -nointro
OR you can do the following by hand:
Rename your 'bzone.cfg' (in your bz2root directory) to 'bzone_stock.cfg'
Then you have to rename the 'bzone_DC.cfg' file to 'bzone.cfg'.
The DuneCommand assets are all stored in DuneC_b45pak and DCbase.pak. These assets will cause bad assets with stock Battlezone2 and any other mods you have installed.
Four maps are stored in addon/missions/multiplayer/3rdparty/DuneCommand. These files do not cause bad assets.

2. How to play
There is one mode to play: The multiplayer campaign. You have to start up bz2 and go to the multiplayer screen. There start a new game and choose any of the the 'DuneCommand: missionX' maps, where X is either 0, 1, 2 or 3.
Check out the new extra options to get some background info on what is going on. You can also choose the difficulty level. I would suggest you start out with 'normal'. If it is too easy, just go ahead and try tough.
If you don't know what to do, just hit ESC and you will see your orders complete with an image of how your target object looks like.
You can join a game and play the campaign as a team.
to start up the mpi shell really quick, you can use this shortcut:
"path\to\Battlezone II\bzone.exe" -host  -win -name Fishbone -nointro
obviously not using Fishbone but your nickname.

If you want to play stock bz2 or any other mod, follow these instructions:

ASSIMILATION MOD Battlezone II version: 1.2 and 1.3
First before you can download you will need to read the instructions on how to install the mod, Please follow the instructions before you download, It will fix a lot of problems when installing.
This mod is zipped into a file so you will need WinZip or Extractor for this.
NO.1 See if you can find Mod Manager 5 found on bzscrap.com and install it.
NO.2 Download Assimilation.
NO.3 Extract Assimilation in your Battlezone 2 folder (No where else!!)
NO.4 If you want the mod permanently on, press, "YES" When you are prompted to Replace or overwrite the "Bzone.cfg" file.
NO.5 Run Mod Manger 5 and run the mod from there.
If you do not want to Use Mod Manager, then Just unzip everything into your BattleZone 2 folder and overwrite everything. and run "bzone.exe" or use your shortcut in the StartMenu
To disable the mod, delete the Assimilation.pak file.

We have also lost contact with millions of colonists on this planet, we did not expect any scions to be around, even after 100 years

STEVEVO'S RECYCLER VARIANT

Here are the standard procedures to install and enjoy this mod.
If v1.0 was installed previously
Delete the folder Steeveeo's Recycler Variant from the Addon folder
Clear out the bindata folder (We never included the .msh format files in the 1.0 release due to absentmindedness)
Procede to Installation.
Download Steeveeo's Recycler Variant v2.20
Extract all files to the ADDON directory, or point the Setup Wizard to your 1.3pb3 install.
Procede to Setting up the game.
Setting up the game
Choose which mode you wish to play in from below.
Instant Action (Against computer)
Run the game.
Go into the Instant tab.
Select your preferred settings.
Go into the Extra Options button (if you dont see it, you are not on a map that supports it).
Select "Steeveeo's Recycler Variant" from both recycler menus ("Steeveeo's Recycler Variant (Field Recy Only)" if you want some extra challenge).
Choose your skill level from the AIP list on the right. If you choose a non-SRV AIP, the AI will not build the mod-specific units.
Click any other options you would like.
Multiplayer (ST and MPI)
Go into the Multi tab
Setup your server like you normally would.
Select a strategy map (either MPI or ST).
Hit the blinking button "Vehicle List CFG" and select Steeveeo to replace stock vehicle listings with the modded vehicle listings (you can hit the Stock button in that tab when you'd like to switch back).
Click the Extra Options button (in the Game Options panel).
For ST: Go to the Starting Recycler pane and select Steeveeo's Recycler Variant from the list.
For MPI: Go to Page 2, select the Starting Recycler the same way mentioned above, then go to page 3 and select an SRV labeled AIP.
Hit "Start Game" when all other settings are satisfactory.
Uninstalling SRV 2.20 is even more simple than installing it.
Open up your ADDON directory.
Delete the Steeveeo's Recycler Variant folder.
