About Me

I grew up in South Africa with a cocker in the family - Freckles - our much-loved orange roan dog. When I could, I got a cocker of my own. She was also orange roan and was an absolute sweety - named Freckles in honour of our family dog. When she passed on, aged 13, I got another orange roan, Chelsea. Chelsea, unfortunately, had several health problems and I was heart-broken when she had to be put to sleep, aged only 4. It was a long while before I could face having another dog in my life. In the meanwhile, I immigrated to Northern Ireland. Two years ago, Honey, a golden cocker, came to share my life. She was about 5 months old and a bit of a rescue. Her owners had bought her from a pet chop in Dundalk (I think she was an impulse buy) and were keen to get rid of her as they just couldn't cope with her. She came to live with me and I renamed her Honey and that's exactly what she's turned out to be - an absolute honey. She's just gorgeous and while I've got her over most of the hang-ups she developed at her previous owners, she still has couple of quirks that we just accomodate. She's super-friendly and loves everybody - even the postman, to his surprise.
