Did you know that a Hammond tone generator spins at 1200 RPM ? That's why it is extremely important to keep them oiled with Hammond generator oil, and nothing else. Failure to do so may cause a "freeze-up" and permanent damage to the tone wheel carriers, resulting in distortion or squealing.
The Leslie speaker models 122/145/147 (sound in motion) also requires service. The upper fast motor rotates at approx. 408 RPM and low speed approx 40 RPM. The woofer (bottom) rotates at approx. 400 RPM and slow 39 RPM. O-rings, drive belts, motor service and tube testing are required to maintain reliability and maximum performance.
Cone (tweeter) bearings should be serviced periodically.
Broken cones should be replaced to ensure quality sound.
