Health awareness days in Winter 2010

30th October 2010 - Make a Difference Day

Hit targets for team-building, morale-boosting and CSR all in one day by getting involved in volunteering with the CSV. You may already run a volunteering programme, but this awareness day is an opportunity to encourage everyone to take an action to "Make A Difference".This could be as simple as picking up one piece of litter on the way home, or you could give people time off to volunteer in their community - the choices are endless.

3rd November 2010 - Stress Awareness Day

Run by the ISMA, this is a day to think about stress - and how to manage it. The theme this year is "Start Living - Stop Stressing" and this title could have  a deep meaning, with significant mortality in the UK attributed to stress. The website has some great downloadable leaflets and even a relaxation MP3. Click here for full details

14th November 2010 - World Diabetes Day

With inactivity and poor diet a major cause of diabetes - itself responsible for a significant proportion of UK absence, illness and death -this is the perfect opportunity to promote health in the workplace. The theme is "Let's take control of Diabetes. Now." Make it a fun event -but use the downloadable resources to get the serious message across. See here for more.

3rd December 2010

International Day for Persons with Disabilities. This UN-led day is a bit of a mouthful - and not the most motivationally worded day! But the theme is both celebrating and examining the role that disabled people have in the workplace and the wider community. This is a day to showcase innovative ways of improving inclusivity and accessibility - as well as encouraging people with mental and physical impairments to show the world what they have to offer. See the website here.
