About Me

In 1956 I opted for the three year engagement which took me after suffering the  West Kirby experience to Locking for Ground Radar Fitter training. My first posting was to Ventnor with it's Early Warning Type 80 for five months, then on up to Leeming where they had an old Type 7 for Ground Controlled Interception. From there I was detached for five months to El Adem where we had a mobile convoy set up to ensure Mr. Nasser attempted nothing silly. Then it was back to Leeming and demob.

In civvy street I dropped into the very start of the commercial computing age and worked as a field engineer in the Oxford area fixing the kit.

Now "at leisure" in the Isle of Wight. My website www.ventnorradar.co.uk includes an extensive account of my time at Locking at  http://www.ventnorradar.co.uk/Lock01.htm

Welcome Don, It'll take a bit to `get it off the ground' but once it gets noticed, it'll pick up momentum, RAF Greatworth did too.
We'll be down your way in late June, so we can meet up for a cuppa, okay?
