Left the RAF in 1974. Subsequently worked at Oxford Medical Systems and latterly as Document Controller and Deputy Torus Hall Supervisor at the JET Fusion Project in Culham, Oxfordshire.
Thank-you very much for allowing me to be a Veteran, holy poo, now I am old, no medals yet but i suppose I'm half-way there with the suffix - Veteran. Me thinks, I'll go and have a cup of tea and chase a nurse around!
Mark Griffin has taken over as WEBMASTER RAF Locking, I'm sure Mark will quickly find his feet and enjoy being your new `CO' and I'm sure the membership will join me in welcoming Mark as the new owner.
Good luck and enjoy
Martin aka Tom
Hello Martin, the numbers are increasing very very slowly. As you may know I am in contact with one member who was also an instructor at Locking during my time, the other year!! Cheers les
Thanks for the welcome and I hope we prosper. I have a couple of contacts who may be persuaded to join. I came across the site via Don's excellent Ventnor site.
Hi Martin, Thanks for the welcome and this site especially. Considering the numbers of people who passed through Locking over the years I am surprised at the low membership at the moment.. Is it perhaps the newness of the site. I have emailed all my colleagues I am still in touch with and perhaps they will pass it on. It is up to them. I went back to Locking for the Skynet course in 67 and again in 75 for an ILS refresher. My parents still lived in Weston at that time so it was easy to take the family and live out.
Firstly thanks for your welcome email. Secondly I do agree about the lack of coverage for us who were not apprentices at RAF Locking but ordinary airmen. Without us, the permanent staff, the apprentices would not have received any training, etc. etc. Where are these ordinary airmen? Cheers Les. PS. this also applies to the adult trainees like yourselve, where are they all?
Martin thanks for the welcome. Have already looked at the Ventnor site, and there is some useful information on the Chain Home site and the ROTOR site.
Hi. Remember the "Happenings" well. Especially on Friday morning, after Thursdays "Pay Parade" .The Parade Ground was always littered with "Winnings" from the walk home along Locking Road from Thursday night out from any "Passing out" Class.
More power to your elbow Martin! But where are the members? Suggest you drop a line to Saga. And will place a link on my own Locking pages within www.ventnorradar.co.uk
