Towne Meadow Carmel PUPsRunning practices will be held afterschool on Mondays between Aug 31 and Sep 21 on school days.  There will be one Tuesday practice, on Sep 8, since there is no school on the 7th for Labor Day.  Please be sure to notify the school that your child will being staying after school for practice.  This should be done on the school website. We will meet in the gym and practice outdoors on school property until 3:45 at which time you can pick your child up in front of the school.  Please have runners dress appropriately for the weather and bring a water bottle.

Meets begin at 1:30 pm on Sep 12, 19, and 26.  Meets will be held at Northview Christian Life Church Cross Country Course located on the SW corner of 131st St. and Hazeldell Parkway.  It is not required to participate in the meets though it is the fun part and provides a sence of accomplishment when the finish line is crossed!

Preparing for Pup Meet #1

Pup Running is about encouraging fitness and fun.  Our goals are: 1) have FUN running  2) Do our best  3) Improve each race.    With only 4 practices and 3 meets, we will not get to build much endurance in practice, so any encouragement parents may give for kids to run 1 or 2 times during the week would be helpful.  Encourage them to run at a slow pace for up to 20 minutes.  It is OK if they need to walk, just encourage them to keep moving forward.  The distances of the meets are 2K (1.24 miles) for 4th graders and 3K (1.86 miles) for 5th graders.  In terms of running time, the range last year for 4th grade was 8:20 to 20+ minutes; and for 5th grade was 12:20 to 30+ minutes to complete the course.

Volunteers - parents are welcome to attend practices.  We will need volunteers, especially on Sep 19 to help at the meets.  Please the coaches know if you are available to help.

We have 21 Towne Meadow runners enrolled at this time as follows:

4th grade girls   -   9

4th grade boys  -   3

5th grade girls   -   9

5th grade boys  -   0
