The Pacific Pearl Music Association (PPMA) is an all-volunteer organization founded in 2007. It consists of 3 sub-groups, the Westlake Village Symphony, Yeng-Sheng Choir, and Thousand Oaks Chinese Folk Ensemble. The PPMA became a non-profit in 2009 with a mission to nurture and enrich the community through music performance and education. The PPMA is a multi-cultural organization that features not only classical music concerts, but also performances of jazz, popular, and Chinese music.
The organization affiliates four musical groups:
The Westlake Village Symphony (WVS) is a community orchestra that performs primarily in Ventura County. Their goal is to enrich and entertain varied audiences through excellent orchestral concerts. It is an all-volunteer ensemble, and events are free to the public. Membership is open to all orchestral instruments. Anyone interested in auditioning should contact our conductor, Michael Armstrong, to set up an audition.
The Yang Sheng Choir (YS Choir) has 20 - 30 members covering soprano, alto, tenor and baritone/base parts, and performs with the WVS for special events such as the Chinese New Year Festival at the
The Dancing Strings Chamber (DSC), part of WVS, consists of 8-20 string members led by James Zhang (concertmaster and principal violinist). It is an all string chamber group with violins, cellos and violas. Music genre is mostly pop and classic.
Past performances have proven that bringing together such remarkable talents increases the quality of life not only for the participants, but also for our audiences – who are invariably enthralled with the spectacular musical selections.
Join us either as a performer, sponsor or audience as we enter this season of producing beautiful music from our hearts to yours.
