Megumi Field, Philadelphia Freedom Valley Synchronized Swimmer, Heads to Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center
Phoenixville, PA October 16, 2015

Philadelphia Freedom Valley Synchronized Swimmer, Megumi Field is headed to Colorado Springs, CO to train with the top athletes and coaches from around the country. Megumi’s silver performance in the Solo and Figures competitions on June 7, 2015 at the East Zone 12 and under Championship earned her a spot on the East Zone 12 and Under All-Star Team, and she has been invited to attend the All-Star Synchro Camp at the Olympic Training Center.

Philadelphia Freedom Valley Synchronized Swimming coach, Jennifer Hatt, was also selected from the pool of coaches in the Region B of the East Zone to attend the All-Star Camp. Upon completion of the All-Star camp, Coach Jennifer will be the clinician to the East Zone at their Silver Clinic to be held December 5th & 6th in Binghamton, NY.

Synchronized swimming requires a unique combination of strength, agility, endurance, flexibility and speed. FVS club members practice together 3 hours per day, 3 days per week at the Phoenixville YMCA. Elite-level synchronized swimmers typically practice eight hours per day, six days per week.

FVS has enjoyed a wonderfully successful 2014-15 season. At the 13 and Over Regional Competition, Andrea Stock took a gold medal in the 18-19 category with her solo, and the 13-15 team also captured first. Victoria and Kyra swam their duet to silver, and Emma, Kyra, and Eileen all placed well in their figures competitions. The 12 and Under girls stood out at their Regional Competition held in Westfield, NJ. The team placed first and the duet by Rachael and Megumi also took gold. Megumi’s first place standing for her solo qualified her to take it to Jr Olympics. Megumi, Liz, and Maria all placed well in the 12U Age Group figures competition, and Maria’s solo took first place in the 11-12 Intermediate category. The 11-12 Intermediate duets by Maria & Paige and Claire & Enya placed second and third, respectively.

At the 2015 Jr Olympics, Megumi Field placed 5th in the solo event. Her team came in 24th out of 40 teams. Both Megumi Field and teammate Liz Zhang qualified for National team trials to be held January 2016 in Coral Springs, FL.

 

Philadelphia Freedom Valley Synchronized Swim Team Heads to Junior Olympics

 The Philadelphia Freedom Valley Synchronized Swim Team (FVS) is heading to Greensboro, NC to compete for national titles at the 2015 U.S. Synchronized Swimming Junior Olympics beginning June 26. The meet features Solo, Duet, and Team competition in the 12 and Under, 13-15, 16-17, and 18-19 age groups and Free Combination in the 13-15, 16-17, and 18-19 age groups. Duet and Team Routines qualified to compete at the national level by placing in the top three spots in the East Zone Region B competition that covers the geographic area including Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York City, and Long Island. Solos qualified by placing first in that competition.

The Freedom Valley YMCA Synchronized Swimming Team is set to host the 2013 East Zone Junior Championship competition Feb. 8-10 at the Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, PA. The competition will feature nearly 200 swimmers from throughout the East Coast and surrounding area, including competitors from Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and northern Maryland. Swimmers will arrive Friday for the preliminaries in the duet competition. On Saturday, the competition continues with semi-finalist solos, trios, and the crowd favorite, the team event, which will begin at 1 p.m. Finals take place Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., concluding with awards and the naming of the East Zone Junior All Star Team.

This competition offers the athletes an opportunity to compete at an elite level against swimmers from throughout the eastern part of the country, and gives local spectators a chance to see this
amazing and graceful Olympic sport and cheer on local team, Freedom Valley YMCA Synchro. Admission is free and open to the public for all events, which start Friday night at 5 p.m, and continue
through the weekend. The Perkiomen School pool is located just off 663 3rd Street, East Greenville. Signs and balloons will direct guests down the access road to the Hollenbach Athletic Center.

 

 

2014 Summer Lessons Start Monday, June 9th and Run Through the Wednesday, July 30th.

Come learn the basics to this beautiful Olympic sport. Swimmers will learn the beginner techniques and the advanced swimmers will build on beginner skills. Students will learn a novice routine with the option of performing in Freedom Valley YMCA Synchro's watershow at the end of the season June 1&2, 2013. Additional fees and attire required for the watershow. Some classes will be prorated due to holidays.
