One of the funnest features of the Moose Run Cabin (weather permitting) is our home-made "luge" for sledding, boarding or skiing. When you play the videos below, you will understand why this feature is definitely "use at your own risk and expense". While waiting for the videos to load, the following pictures will hopefully get you to use your imagination (and the sleds provided at our cabin).
We intend to use this page to feature improvements we make to the Moose Run Cabin or Lodge, as guests request. The "luge" was certainly the best improvement to the Cabin in 2006. In 2007, we built a "boardwalk" from the front door to the driveway, and made additional seating from a retired Vail chairlift. Dead pine beetle trees were cut down and removed from both properties. In 2008, we purchased lifetime warranty pots and pans for the kitchen, added solar shades to ease TV viewing and protect against fading (installed June 2008, and still showcase the fabulous views), purchased slab granite counter for the laundry saloon (not yet installed), and built the outdoor shower (summer use only, beginning August 2008). The Cabin was stained in 2017.
In 2009, we started advertising the spectacular horse-friendly Moose Run Lodge, and created a new business to provide photography, cleaning, hot tub, inspection and accounting services for the property. In 2010, we added the "Namaste Lodge" to our group of available properties, and the horse friendly Lodge was sold in 2017.
In the coming year, we plan to extend the mahogany decking at the Cabin and replace the boardwalk to the front door (again, using or removing dead pine beetle trees). We will switch short term stays to the Cabin, and have completed STR Application for Grand County which will be effective by May, 2018. We have also arranged for both zip and slack lines on the hill below the Cabin this summer!
