Malissa Whited- Owner/Teacher of Mindful Movement

Malissa Whited stepped on her mat over 2 decades ago.  It wasn’t something she was really looking for, but Yoga found her in the most serendipitous way.  In the midst of her chaotic life, Yoga was the moment of peace, surrender, and inner wisdom that she didn’t even know she needed.  It has become a beautiful, guiding force in her life.  Its teachings have transformed her through the years, leading her to see more love, compassion, light, and beauty in others, the world, and herself.  She is grateful everyday for its ability to break her down and show her the abundant blessings that God provides in life.  Its calling has inspired her to share it with others.   Her practice is an eclectic fusion of therapeutic yoga, vinyasa yoga, and Tantra Yoga. Her classes are educational, created with a therapeutic focus and are breath centered.  She shows multiple levels in her classes to allow her students to manifest an optimal experience in their minds, bodies, and hearts.

Experience:   Malissa Whited B.S.,  E-RYT 200 has been a Yoga instructor for over 17 years.  She became certified as an AFAA Group Fitness Instructor in 2002, a Yoga Instructor in 2004, and a Stott Mat Pilates Instructor in 2008.  She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Toledo in an individualized program of study in 2013, where her major concentrations of study were health, movement, world religions, psychology and business.  She has taught trainings and workshops in the U.S. and Internationally.  Her mission is to heal and elevate the vibration of all beings through Yoga, love, gratitude, and kindness.

Guest Teachers:
These lovely souls fill in for me when I am unable to teach class.
They are kind, mindful, and you will love their practice.

Darcy Piedmonte
Darcy Piedmonte began her yoga journey fifteen years ago with Kelli Harrington here in Monroe. She has relied on her regular practice to ground her, challenge her, and give her life structure and meaning. This love of the practice led Darcy to pursue Yoga Alliance certified 200-hour teacher training with Red Yoga in the fall of 2016. The training was transformative. And now Darcy brings her renewed enthusiasm for yoga to the community at Mindful Movement.
Darcy has been an educator for her adult life, with 26 years spent at Meadow Montessori School in Monroe. She was also the Community Leader for Meadow Montessori 4-H for over a decade. Darcy currently serves at Secretary to the Board of Class Grey, Inc., an outreach organization working to build relationships and human understanding among all members of our community. With an undergraduate degree in Art and Art History from Carleton College, and a master’s degree in Education from St. Catherine University, Darcy continues her love of learning by pursuing pottery and painting, and also working with high school students as a college admissions counselor. Darcy looks forward to sharing her love of yoga with humor, personal story, detailed explanations, and compassion. Join her on the mat for an experience that links strength and flexibility with the body and the mind.
