About Me

I became involved in cake decorating almost two decades ago, when my first child was very young. I made his first few birthday cakes and knew I could do better if I took a cake decorating class. I took Wilton's Course 1 at Sonny's Party & Variety (where I later ended up teaching for about 10 years!) and loved the experience. My skills improved greatly.
A couple years later, the Hobby Lobby in West Bend, WI needed a new Wilton Instructor. Since I had indicated interest in becoming an instructor on my student form when I'd taken the class, I got the call. Did I want to be a Wilton teacher? It sounded like a great idea for me, so in 2005 I began teaching. A year later, I started teaching seasonal classes at Sonny's, too. Since then, I have instructed more than 900 students in the craft of cake decorating.
As of 2015, I no longer teach Wilton classes at Hobby Lobby in West Bend, WI and classes ended in 2016 at Sonny's Party & Variety in Slinger, WI, which has since closed. I have also been employed as a baker and cake decorator for a coffeehouse and caterer and in a wholesale bakery. I am currently employed as the Bakery Lead at Sendik's in West Bend.
Even though I no longer teach at a retail outlet, I am available for group instruction for cake, cupcake or cookie decorating. Contact me at mariahanrahan@att.net for more information!
