We have been involved in raising, training, and exhibiting dogs of various breeds since 1966. Our first Toy Fox Terriers came from Eliza Hopkins' kennel in Homer, Michigan. We liked them so well that we decided to try to preserve that bloodline, and the dogs that we have now are all descendants of those original Hopkins dogs.
Although we enjoy showing dogs, our main concern in keeping this line going is to produce healthy dogs with good temperament AND good looks. We raise only white/black/tan (Tri-color) Toy Fox Terriers, as that was the original preferred color for this breed.
All of our dogs are registered with both the AKC (American Kennel Club) and the UKC (United Kennel Club). These dogs are called "Dual-registered", because they can participate in the events of BOTH the UKC and the AKC.
Why is registration important? Because our registration papers are our GUARANTEE to you that our dogs are PUREBRED, and that the puppy you purchase from us is a TRUE TOY FOX TERRIER, and NOT a mix of other similar breeds (such as Rat Terrier, Jack Russell Terrier, or Chihuahua).
Even if you don't intend to show or breed your dog at the time of purchase, you should still register your new puppy. Registration in the AKC and the UKC adds value to your dog, and someday, you or your family members may decide to get involved in some type of Dog Show Event - perhaps Terrier Racing, Weight Pulling (yes, Toy Fox Terriers can be excellent weight pullers!), Rally-style Obedience, or even Agility Trials. Dog Shows are NOT just for "beauty" any more. They allow your dog to bond with you while both of you have fun, get exercise, and make new friends, both DOG and HUMAN. What's not to like about that?
