A themed folk night - 'The humour is on me now' - was held in memory of the late Bill McDowell, former member of Voices of Lecale folk choir. Singers and musicians gathered together to remember Bill & the songs he sand with us - a lovely evening - thanks to all who came and took part. 

The BIGsing at Fiddlers' Green! Sat 30 July 2011

The second BIGsing in aid of Amnesty International was held this year on 30 July at the Fiddlers' Green festival. A BIG thank-you to our 46 participants, our special guests Tommy Sands and Fil Campbell and Colm Sands for being with us. We were delighted and honoured to be able to sing Tommy's song 'Down by the Laganside' with the man himself! Thanks to Kate Murphy and all at Fiddlers Green and Jonny and staff at the wonderful An Cuan Centre and also to Linda Hanna & the Grand Picture House film company - can't wait to see and hear us all on DVD!

 Voices of Lecale Sponsored Sing - Saturday 9 April 11.30am-1pm at the St Patrick Centre, Downpatrick. Come and listen to the Co Down folk choir raise the rafter and money too to make the our second CD 'Journeys' in aid of The Alzheimer's Society.

Gathering at Paddy's Barn 'Ireland A-Z' - Tuesday 29 March 2011 at 8.30. Themed folk night with the regular session singers and musicians - the aim is sing/play a song/tune for every letter of the alphabet using place-names in the titles and lyrics! 

Annual World Sound Healing Day - This year, on Monday, February 14, 2011, we’ll be celebrating the 9th Annual World Sound Healing Day. On this day thousands of people throughout the planet join together and sound forth for 5 minutes with the heart chakra sound "AH", created and projected with the energy of compassion and love, sending a sonic valentine to Gaia, our Mother Earth. If you would like to take part in this event, which is possibly the first time it has been organised in N Ireland, please join us at 11.45 am at the St Patrick Centre, Downpatrick where we will have an hour's singing after the big ''AH''! It is free and open to all - donations to the Alzheimer's Society will be gratefully received!
