The Joys of Life Railway is a ground level 5in gauge miniature railway, giving a 600-yard long round trip in Bethesda, North Wales. It is an out-and-back route commencing from Stokerton with scale buildings, sunken loco shed and semaphore signals, climbs up a steep bank before crossing the driveway and continuing to the passing loop at Moles Hill where the line enters a tunnel and journey continues to the Highfield reversing loop crossing two high level bridges. Construction of the railway began in 1983, but following the sale of the accompanying house and grounds it fell in to a state of disrepair in the early noughties. In early 2007 steps were made to revive the railway to its former glory, recent progress has seen it flourish and a club has been established to help cover the cost of insurance so that trains can be operated for visitors. On this website we hope to document the significant developments on the railway highlighted with photographs & videos, latest updates are made via our Facebook page.
