ABSTRACT Reports on Giles Custom Guitars owner Roland Giles Jr.'s creation of a polymer guitar using Polymer Design's trademarked Liquid Resin Casting (LRC) process. Qualities of plastic versus wood guitars; Longer sustain for Giles' polymer guitar. Extremely Rare Beautiful Retro Made in USA Allen Giles in classic Surf Green with upgraded WILDE PICKUPS and Fender strings. Giles go for around 1200.00 or so. No Reserve! You will not find a better one for its age. No fret wear and nice wide comfort fret board. Specs: GILES USA Instruments previously produced in Bellingham, MA until 1998. Distributed by Giles USA/AD & G Enterprises of Bellingham, MA. Designer/luthier Allen Giles offered a retro-styled/advanced composition guitar model that was reasonably priced. Giles? KL-200 model featured a bolt-on maple neck combined with a resin cast body. The resin cast body was designed to recreate the tonal and sustain qualities of more expensive tone woods. Both the body and the necks were produced in the USA. The composite guitar was offered in part due to other big-name manufacturers (Gibson, Martin) producing guitars out of more environmental-friendly products. KL-200 - offset double cutaway resin cast body with a cutaway in the lower bout, bolt-on maple neck a 22-fret maple or rosewood fingerboard, chrome or black hardware, vintage-style six-screw tremolo, Sperzel locking tuners, Bill Lawrence pickups available in three single coil or two single and one humbucker configuration, three knobs, a five-way pickup selector, pearloid pickguard, and available in Black, Candy Apple Red, Pearl White, Sea Foam Green, Viper Blue, Gold, Woodland Green, Teal, and Viper Red high gloss finish, disc. 1998.
