Thank you, Bill!

Description: This photo is one of many dedication windows to several Disney Legends. They are found on every building of Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland. For this particular dedication, GMD fans should be very thankful of this man's ingenuity and imagination. The inspiration for anything often starts with one person, and that one person who came up with the idea to make an animated feature with an animal detective was none other than William D. Cottrell (1906-1995). The Animation Imagineer was very close to the Disney family, a brother-in-law to Walt and his wife, Lillian, and a pioneer involved in many of the classic Disney shorts and films. As a fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes series, Cottrell suggested an animated feature based on the characters, but all as dogs. With Meitantei Holmes (Sherlock Hound) already in existence, they changed it to mice and based it on the Eve Titus series, hence the creation of The Great Mouse Detective. If you look closely in the window, you can see that the wallpaper is striped. This is identical to the wallpaper in Basil's sitting room.

Photo is to me (Brina)! I proudly stood below the window and snapped a few good ones. :)
