I'd just like to bring something to your attention and I would be very grateful if you could spread the info to any of your friends that also operate GB callsigns.
Because of the sheer volume of cards (and work) entailed within the GB series it is impossible to operate a 'via' system, cards will only go to the GB callsign. The only way the QSL cards for the GB station will come out to you is if you have sae's lodged with me as they will NOT be forwarded to your personal callsign.
It would also really help if you didn't ask for your personal callsign as its one more callsign to have to read through on the card.
Thanks for your help
Thanks to those of you that are already doing this, but the reason I'm putting this on the page is that just lately I've been recieving envelopes with just a name and address on them and no GB callsign and no operational dates! I have to point out that I do lean more towards psychiatric than psychic!(I must be mad to do this job) so give me a clue please.
What I need is the GB callsign in the top left corner-easy to see when I am sorting the cards into envelopes, and also your RSGB membership number underneath it
PLease Please put the operational dates in the bottom left corner, or annual / permanent, and the NOV holders callsign next to your name
If you think that I might have envelopes of yours without operational dates just send them in an email. Ofcom reissues callsigns regularly and some callsigns in the files have 3 different sets of envelopes. I somethings get less than polite emails from folk saying I have sent them the wrong cards, and when I check their envelopes what do I find? no operational dates! so once again give me a clue please.
Please note that for a number of years I have been offering a Club file system for Clubs and individuals who operate multiple callsigns.
Club files are set up with one main callsign -usually an annual or most heavily used callsign, and all the other GB callsigns are referred back to the main callsign meaning they all come out together.
This won't be sorted out for you automatically, as there are so many callsigns I can't begin to link them all up, its down to you to contact me and let me know. I will then sort it out.
With the 'No Wait' system brought in by the RSGB it will save you postage.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU PUT ENOUGH POSTAGE ON THE OUTSIDE ENVELOPE THAT YOU SEND TO ME. I AM GETTING A LOT OF CARDS IN THE POST BOX ASKING ME TO GO TO THE POST OFFICE AND PAY THE OUTSTANDING EXCESS, AS ENVELOPES HAVE BEEN SENT INCORRECTLY STAMPED. PLEASE NOTE THEY WILL BE RETURNED BY THE POST OFFICE, I WON'T PAY THE EXCESS FOR YOU.
Envelopes containing your sae's must not be over 0.5cm thick. This is a very slim amount, so please watch it. If it is over the 0.5mm thickness, the Post Office will expect you to put a 2nd class Large stamp on the envelope (as of April 2014 this costs 73p, only 20p more than the 53p second class, and save's all the aggro of having your sae's returned)
The Post Office in my village don't bother to ask me for the £1.30+ to cover the excess and their pound of flesh! They just send them straight back to you, I have heard of some people being charged up to £3 to get their sae's back, which is ludicrous. Please be careful.
You can get a leaflet at the Post Office with all of their prices, weights and dimensions on it (It looks confusing, but it does make sense eventually!) The leaflet and their Postal charges tend to change at the beginning of every April, so try to remember to keep up to date. The information is also available online on the Royal Mail website.
PLEASE SEND SAE'S BIG ENOUGH TO GET 100G OF CARDS IN, SOME PEOPLE ARE SENDING ORDINARY LETTER SIZE AND WASTING SOME OF THEIR POSTAGE, TRY THE ENVELOPE WITH SOME OF YOUR OWN QSL CARDS IF IN DOUBT
Please do not send QSL cards for other callsigns, these go to:
R S G B Bureau
P O Box 5
4. Keep me supplied with Stamped addressed envelopes (I do not
supply envelopes) You can get approx 12 cards for 2nd class ordinary stamp or approx 36-40
cards for2nd class large but make sure when you buy your stamps get ones with
2nd large etc if possible as these won't go out of date when the
postage rate goes up.
Please do not send stamps only they must be attatched to an
envelope! I have a nasty habit of returning loose stamps back to you!
Please do not send cheques or money or stamps
Thanks for your help and co operation
All of the stamps that are on the envelope that you send your sae's in are passed on to raise money for Canine Partners, if you want to send any used stamps in with your own sae's I will include them for you as well, I think this is a very good Charity that provides excellent assistance dogs to disabled people, I hope you will help to support it.
