Advanced Weight Loss-Potent Formula with African Mango, Acai, Resveratrol, Apple Cider Vinegar & Grapefruit!

Raspberry Ketone is a natural phenolic compound that is responsible for the heavenly aroma of red raspberries. And according to certain studies, it’s also a potent fat burner. It was discovered that raspberry ketone increased both the expression and secretion of adiponectin. This is important because adiponectin is a protein hormone which modulates a number of metabolic processes, including glucose regulation and fatty acid catabolism. Past research into adiponectin has shown that your levels of adiponectin are inversely correlated with your body fat percentage:

Higher adiponectin = lower levels of body fat. During this latest study, this theory was re-affirmed as the formerly fat lab mice melted off a ton of body-fat. And if weight loss isn’t enough, higher levels of adiponection have been shown to control theme tabolic derangements that may result in type 2 diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic syndrome. As a result of all of this, the researchers concluded that Raspberry Ketone “holds great promise as a fat-burning, health-improving herbal medicine.

African Mango: A weight loss supplement derived from the seeds of a rare Mango from Africa, it has many health benefits. It helps to speed up the body’s metabolism.

Acai & Resveratrol: Super strong Antioxidants! Apple Cider Vinegar: Powerful Weight Loss Aid & other health benefits!

Other ingredients are Kelp, Grapefruit& Caffeine, all formulated to help you loose weight!

This clinically tested compound has been on demand and has been incredible, Raspberry Ketone is all over the Media and bloggers are now reporting – with incredible excitement - that Raspberry Ketone is “A revolutionary metabolism booster to bust fat" and that "Raspberry ketones actually help to slice the fat up inside the cell so it can seep out faster- so it makes it more easy to be burned.” Those are some incredible claims! Since the show aired, we have manufactured dozens of formulations containing Raspberry Ketone! After careful research, our laboratory came up with what we think is the most compelling Raspberry Ketone formula. We added African Mango, Green Tea, Acai (and more) to make it even more effective!

"Read this or Your Immune System is a 'Sitting Duck'"

Posted on February 4, 2012 at 1:55 AM Comments comments (0)

Your immune system is a complicated, interesting and amazing system which helps keep you healthy and strong, protecting your body from environmental stressors.

However, no matter what you do, sometimes your immune system gets tested. That's why you also need a backup plan.

All great athletes know this. They train hard so their bodies stay healthy and they can perform at their best. But they still have physiotherapists and health professionals on call because they know sometimes life just throws a curveball.

That's why they always have a back-up strategy in place. So.. Listen, many "positive thinkers" might consider this approach negative. But I think it's just being prudent, realistic and sensible.

After all, no matter how confident mountain climber Edmund Hillary was when he set off for Mount Everest, do you think he left without tools and backup supplies? Of course not And you shouldn't be heading into this winter without a tool to"back up" your immune system either because you need... Free radicalsare unstable, destructive molecules that lack electrons. And while they formnaturally as a result of normal metabolic processes like breathing, they can increase due to things like stress, poor diet and environmental stressors.

So what can you do to promote your immune system and protect against environmental stressors?
Well, your body already produces antioxidants to neutralize freeradicals. But as we grow older, the levels of antioxidants drop significantly.  It is estimated that by age 40 your antioxidant level is at 50%, and by the age of 60 to 70, it is down to around 5% to 10%.  So you need to get your hands on ahealthy supply of antioxidants to "mop up" these scavenger moleculesas soon as they start to pose a threat.  Please don't make the mistake of sticking your head in the sand like an emu and hoping everything will be okay.

One of the most powerful antioxidant is Cantron

Remember, there's a huge difference between earned and justifiable optimism and danger ousoptimism. And while you can do everything in your power to give your body the immune support it needs over the winter months, just like leading athletes, you also need to make sure you have a backup plan in case life throws you a curveball. In your heart, you know there must be a solution: an effective way tohelp support your immune system when it gets tested. But knowing what to take and who to buy it from (so you actually get what you pay for) can be anabsolute nightmare, and confusing.

Oregano Oil:

Ancient Greeks were the first to recognize Oregano oil for its health-promoting qualities. It is known to promote a healthy immune system. It also has very high levels of carvacrol at a minimum of 55%, an important component which has recently attracted much attention.

The key to Oregano oil's amazing power is the synergistic combination of naturally occurring chemicals in the ratio in which nature produced them. Carvacrol's importance may be overestimated by media articles which neglect to mention the other critical chemical components of Oregano oil and their relationship with each other.

Unfortunately, the " more is better" mind set has provided some distillers of oregano oil with the incentive to increase Carvacrol levels, at whatever cost to the end result, in order to cater to demand from the uninformed sector of the marketplace. The researchers and professors, and even the good distillers, find all this highly amusing as they know that the real curative powers of nature lie in the naturally distilled oil. Lab testing on Oregano's antibacterial, anti fungal, antiviral, anti-cancer etc. properties has been conducted with naturally distilled, best quality Oregano oil which falls into an average range of 52-85% Carvacrol.

When you consider that the final product has to be well diluted with olive oil to make a safe and therapeutically effective product, differences in Carvacrol percentages mean very little. The final Carvacrol percentage in the bottle is likely to be in the 5-15% range. Again, if a manufacturer claims that an ‘extra strength' product (typically 40-50% Oregano oil) is better by virtue of its strength, they are again mistaken and falling back on the "bigger is better" mentality.

The body would rather deal with more of a correctly blended product than an extra strength product. The olive oil greatly aids the body to assimilate the Oregano oil. Pure Oregano essential oil is very caustic and unsafe for therapeutic use. Any knowledgeable herbalist will tell you that a small dosage of a given herb may have a healing effect where a larger dose of the same herb would have the opposite effect. More is not better!!!

Omega 3/EPA/DHA:

Omega-3 fatty acids. A study found that people taking a half teaspoon of flax oil a day experienced fewer and less severe respiratory infections and fewer days of being absent from work. The omega 3 fatty acids in flax oil and fatty fish (such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel) act as immune boosters by increasing the activity of phagocytes, the white blood cells that eat up bacteria. (Perhaps this is why grandmothers used to insist on a daily dose of unpalatable cod liver oil.) Essential fatty acids also protect the body against damage from over-reactions to infection. When taking essential fatty acid supplements, such as flax or fish oils, take additional vitamin E, which acts together with essential fatty acids to boost the immune system. One way to get more omega-3 fatty acids in your diet is to add one to three teaspoons of flax oil to a fruit and yogurt smoothie.

Vitamin D-3:

The difference between Vitamin D, and Vitamin D-3 is the source. Basic Vitamin D usually drives from soy. Most people try to avoid soy, so Vitamin D-3 come from better sources, such as Lanolin, which is sheep's wool, so it is still a vegan source.

Vitamin D is the world's single most common vitamin deficiency and an estimated 85% of people in the US. We are suppose the get Vitamin D from the sun, but not many of us spend the time in the sun needed. Then there is the fact that it is not safe due to the ozone layer being depleated from chemicals. So therefore we need to take a Vitamin D supplement espcially during the sign and systemoms of a cold or flu.

Vitamin D helps the immune system to fight infections. With a near-optimum blood level of vitamin D, you can expect fewer colds, 'flu.

Not only does Vitamin D enhance your immunity, but it inhibits the development of destructive auto-immune diseases such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and multiple sclerosis.

Vitamin D is a major inhibitor of cancer, and part of this effect may be attributed to the increased vigilance of the immune system.

Yarrow:

Yarrow is widely employed in herbal practice, and works by dilating capillaries and increasing blood circulation.*It has long been used to encourage perspiration which can cool your body and assist in removing waste products through your sweat glands and kidneys.

Its Latin name is Achillea mille folium and legend has it that yarrow was used by Achilles in the Trojan Wars. The peppermint plant supports immune function and helps encourage sweating.

Peppermint:

This magical little ingredient is used for far more reasons than its great flavor. It has a long history of natural use and today, scientific research has confirmed the value of peppermint in supporting the immune function.* The powder also contains menthone, menthyl esters, and menthyl acetate which helps encourage sweating.

Boneset Herb:

This Native American plant was adopted by early settlers to America for its ability to help your body sweat.  It also supports respiratory health, and helps support the immune system.

Boneset has been widely used by Native Americans.

DMG:

DMG (otherwise known as vitamin b16) is a metabolic enhancer in that it supports the function of your cardiovascular system, your immune system and your muscle performance. It also helps to detoxify your body, protecting your cells from reactions caused by free radicals.

In 1981, important research on the effects of DMG was published in a prestigious health journal.

In a double blind study on 20 humans, they found a positive response as compared to controls, concluding that DMG enhanced the immune system.

Elder Flower Extract:

The flowers and berries from the common elder have been traditionally used to support health.* They are rich in vitamin C and a wide range of valuable flavonoids, including anthocyanins and quercetin, which many people attribute health promoting properties.

What's more, they have been used as a tonic to help support the immune system for years.* It is widely known to promote lung and bronchial tract health.

Olive Leaf Extract:

Derived from the leaves of the olive tree, recorded evidence of olive leaf's traditional use goes back thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians and Mediterranean cultures used it for a variety of health-promoting uses and it is widely known as a natural, non-toxic immune system supporter. It is a concentrated immune supporter without other known side effects.

Whole Food Vitamins Vs. Synthetic

Posted on January 17, 2012 at 10:50 PM Comments comments (0)

Americans are now spending more than $17 billion a year on supplements for health and wellness. Strangely enough, the rates of some forms of chronic disease have not changed, while the rates of others have actually increased. There are a number of reasons for these poor statistics and many things remain a mystery.

One thing seems fairly clear, however. Alot of the supplements out there aren't helping very much. I'm not saying there are no helpful supplements out there. There certainly are. What is becoming more apparent, however, is that supplements will not help much if one does not first address the necessary basics of health and healing.

What is also very clear is that not all supplements are created equal. The basics of health and healing will be discussed in another of my articles, The Six Foundations of Healing. I believe these areas must be addressed for true healing to occur in any chronic disease. In this article, I will discuss some things you should consider if you need to or want vibrant, better health. Specifically, I will address the differences between whole food nutrients and suppliments versus synthetic or isolated nutritional supplements.

Whole Food Vitamins Vs. Synthetic Vitamins

Although there are numerous viewpoints on what kind of foods we should or should not be eating, as well as the ideal ratio of these foods, everyone from all corners of the diet and nutrition world seems to agree on one thing: No matter which foods we choose and in what ratios we eat them, whole foods are better for you than refined foods.

This fact has never really been argued. Everyone agrees raw honey is better for you than white sugar or that brown rice is better for you than white rice. Why should it be any different for vitamins?

Often, I have been puzzled by the average naturopath or nutritionist who goes on and on about the value of whole foods and how refined foods -- having been robbed of all the extra nutrients they naturally come with -- are not healthy for you. Then, they go on to prescribe a shopping bag full of isolated, refined vitamins for you to take!

Just like refined foods, these refined vitamins have been robbed of all of the phytonutients, or extra accessory nutrients that they naturally come with as well. Combinations of minerals and enzymes, for example. In turn, like refined foods, they can create numerous problems and imbalances in your body if taken at high levels for long periods of time. They can also act more like drugs in your body, forcing themselves down one pathway or another. At the very least, they won't help you as much as high quality food and food-based supplements.

Whole Food Supplements

Whole food supplements are what their name suggests: Supplements made from concentrated whole foods. The vitamins found within these supplements are not isolated. They are highly complex structures that combine a variety of enzymes, coenzymes, antioxidants, trace elements, activators and many other unknown or undiscovered factors all working together synergistically, to enable this vitamin complex to do its job in your body.

Nutrients from within this complex cannot be taken apart or isolated from the whole, and then be expected to do the same job in the body as the whole complex is designed to do.

The perfect example of this difference can be seen in an automobile. An automobile is a wonderfully designed complex machine that needs all of its parts to be present and in place to function properly. Wheels are certainly an important part of the whole, but you could never isolate them from the rest of the car, call them a car or expect them to function like a car. They need the engine, body and everything else.

The same analogy applies to the vitamin C (ascorbic acid, usually synthasized from petrolium) ) or vitamin E (delta tocopherol) you can find on most health food store shelves. They are parts of an entire complex that serve a purpose when part of the whole. However, they cannot do the job of the entire complex by themselves. Here at the Better Health Store we only carry whole food C and E from whole concentrated fruits, berries and other foods high in vitamin C and E.

With similar logic in place, one can analyze what a typical multivitamin truly is. The automobile equivalent of creating a multivitamin would be going to a junk yard, finding all of the separate parts you would need to make up an entire automobile, throwing them together in a heap (or capsule in terms of the multivitamin) and expecting that heap to drive like a car!

Obviously, there is a difference. Science cannot create life. Only life can create life. Enzymes are missing, among other things.

Synthetic or Isolated Nutritional Supplements

Isolated nutrients or synthetic nutrients are not natural, in that they are never found by themselves in nature. Taking these isolated nutrients, especially at the ultra-high doses found in formulas today, is more like taking a drug. Studies show the body treats these isolated and synthetic nutrients like xenobiotics (foreign substances).

By the same token, food-based supplements are never treated like this by your body. For example, your urine will never turn florescent yellow, no matter how much meat (a good source of B vitamins) you eat. This sort of rapid excretion happens only with foreign substances in your body.

Not only are isolated nutrients treated like drugs or other chemicals by your body. Like drugs, they can create problems for you too. Nature does not produce any nutrient in an isolated form. The nutrients in foods are blended together in a specific way and work best in that format. For an isolated nutrient to work properly in the body, it needs all the other parts that are naturally present in the food too.

If the parts are not all there from the start, they are taken from the body's stored supply! This is why isolated nutrients often work for a little while, then seem to stop working. Once your body's store of the extra nutrients is used up, the isolated nutrient you're taking doesn't work as well anymore. Worse yet, a deficiency in these extra nutrients can be created in your body.

And, because most nutrients are isolated from the foods they come in -- using a wide array of potentially nasty solvents and other chemicals -- taking high amounts of these products can also expose you to these potentially toxic chemicals, if care is not taken to remove them. With the burden we are already facing from the high number of chemicals in our environment, why would anyone want to add more?

Synergy and Potency

The various parts of a natural vitamin complex work together in a synergistic manner. Synergy means that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Nutritionist Judith DeCava puts it best: "Separating the group of compounds (in a vitamin complex) converts it from a physiological, biochemical, active micronutrient into a disabled, debilitated chemical of little or no value to living cells. The synergy is gone."

In other words, the automobile, in its original form, will drive better than a pile of its individual parts. Most people don't follow this logic when examining a nutritional supplement.

Supplement makers typically try to stuff as much as possible in a capsule, telling us that the more we take, the better it is for us. Remember the ultra high levels of their synthetic, isolated ingredients? This is simply not the case. As you now know, it is not necessarily the amount of a nutrient you ingest that is important, but its form and how much is bioavailable that counts the most. In fact, remembering that ingesting single nutrients can actually create imbalances in the body, logic would dictate the higher the level of a single nutrient that you take in, the quicker this imbalance will occur.

What all of this means: The potency of a supplement has much more to do with synergy than with actual nutrient levels. It is a combined effect of all the parts of the food, rather than the chemical effect of a single part, that is most important.

Don't Forget the Basics

I fear all of this talk of supplements -- food-based, isolated or synthetic -- has detracted from the most important part of health and healing. The basics of proper diet, exercise, detoxification, structure, mental/emotional and spiritual health must all be in order for true healing to occur. No supplement will work on its own if these foundations are not in place.

However, even when these foundations are in place,  supplement support is still necessisary. You want to take one or more food-based supplements to ensure you are getting an adequate array of nutrients in your diet. Because the soil our food is grown in has become so dead and denatured, it is almost impossible to get the nutrients  we need from our food alone, even if you eat a well balanced diet. If the situation is acute enough to necessitate a more immediate treatment response, a specialized food-based supplement would be your choice, along with the nutritional guidence given in a consultation appointment with me, either in person or by phone if you are outside the Oklahoma area.
