Rhodesia - Intaf
Born in Bulawayo in October 1951. Parents were Dr Jimmy Shee and Kitty Shee. Lots of siblings: Comilla, Deborah and Charles (all in the UK) and Laurence and Martine (in South Africa). Went to school at CBC, Bulawayo and completed A Levels in 1969. Went to UCT in 1970 and studied geology and graduated with BSc Hons in Geochemistry in 1974. Spent 1975 doing National Service in Rhodesia - Intake 173. Was a medic MA3 and spent the rest of the year as an instructor at the Medical Training School, Llewellyn Barracks. Back to UCT in 1976 and completed MSc Geochemistry in 1978. Worked for De Beers as a geologist in Kimberley. Married Trish Cangley (Rhodes University graduate) in 1981. Completed PhD Geochemistry at UCT in 1985. Worked for Anglo American / De Beers in Johannesburg until Trish and I moved to Melbourne, Australia in December 1989. Have been in Melbourne since then and worked for a De Beers Company (Stockdale Prospecting Limited) in diamond exploration until 2006. Now mostly retired and live in Foster, SW Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.
