Don Valley swimmers go to the Yorkshire’s
This weekend saw the start of this year’s Winter Yorkshire Championships 2013. Representing Don Valley were Gabrielle Wedgwood and Robyn Drury. The weekend started off well as Robyn romped to a 5 second P.B in her 100m breaststroke, qualifying for this year’s North East Regional Qualifiers, an exceptional swim in her favourite stroke. She swiftly followed that up with a 1 second P.B in 100m backstroke. Not to be outdone, Gabrielle produced a 2 second P.B in her 100m backstroke bursting out of the blocks and maintaining a strong, fast pace throughout. To end the day on a high Robyn sliced a huge 6 seconds off her 200 I.M, another P.B in the bag, showing bursts of speed with composure in all strokes.A guaranteed soaking for Coach Karl (bad bet).
Sunday brought two more swims, as both Gabby and Robyn took part in the 100m freestyle. Robyn up first put in a spirited swim managing yet another P.B knocking 2 seconds off her qualifying time. Following that was Gabrielle who produced a powerful swim leading from the start, putting in some excellent turns and underwater work for a massive 4 second P.B. Well done girls!!

DMASA Individual Championships Session 1
On the 6th of October we had the first session of the METS and it was a fantastic afternoon with 12 of our swimmers attending. We had Austin Bray and Kyle Smithard competing in their first individual 50m events gave us a solid swim and official times to work with. Connor Bray competed in his first 100m events and came away with three 4th places. As well as Connor we had George Robinson and Maisie Brown compete in the 100m events for the first time well done to both of them on day.
The day consisted of some big personal bests to with Jessica Moses -17.17 on 100m Medley, Oliver Bird -10.84 50m Freestyle and Gabrielle Wedgwood - 10.66 On 100m Breaststroke. Every PB is important though and a big shout out has to go to Robyn Drury( -4.39 medley and -0.42 Breaststroke), Chloe Hill – 1.56 100m fly and Olivia Drury -0.24 100m Freestyle.
It was a great effort by all and the hard work brought some fantastic medals. Two gold, one silver, one bronze, three 4th, Three 5th and two 6th. Olivia Drury finished the day as Top Girl for her age group and considering she had to return to us from DARTES due to injury through the summer she has worked extremely hard to build herself back up and this is a fantastic achievement.
All results can be found on the board poolside or via the DMASA site.
Well Done to everyone and lets make the second session even better.

Thank You to Bethany McNeal and Elinor Wood
Thank you to Bethany and Elinor for their commitment to help improve all of the swimmers in C and B squads. It is a learning curve for both of them to transfer their own skills from training and applying it to coaching. The reliability and effort shown to volunteer with coaching and then the commitment to training has led Elinor to receive swimmer of the month for August and Bethany for September. They both have a great relationship with swimmers and parents and continue to being a vital part in the development of our swimmers.
Well Done girls.

First of all may we wish all of Don Valley swimmers and parents a very Happy and Prosperous New Year, from all of the coaching staff, committee & volunteers.
2012 has been a most encouraging year here at Don Valley, with excellent performances from all swimmers. We have had many new arrivals who have instantly intergrated into the Don Valley family, making 2013 a very exciting time for the club. Good luck for the new year and swim hard!
A big thankyou to all the parents who regularly turn up at training, and support the club with their very generous contributions through bonus ball/ raffle participation. Your continuing support is greatly appreciated, and enables us to keep the club moving forward.
This Christmas our raffle was a roaring success, greatly due to some overwhelming support from local businesses. We received some amazing donations which grabbed the attention of our swimmers and parents, helping us raise much needed funds.
We would also like to say a massive thankyou to all the companies who have supported us this year, with donations etc. Without their support and generosity it would make our work at the club so much more difficult. So, a huge thankyou to Bawtry Paintball who's representative Karl had these kind words to add. Bawtry Paintball & Laser Fields - Doncaster is pleased to support Don Valley Dolphins. As the largest Yorkshire Paintball site we pride ourselves on supporting local clubs wherever possible.
We would also like to thank Sheffield Wednesday FC, Doncaster Rovers FC, Liverpool FC,Elements Medi-Spa, Doncaster, The Dome Leisure Centre, Doncaster Superbowl, Parti Animals, DN5 Hair Design, Goldilocks Salon, Perfect Harmony Beauty Salon, Morrisons, Armthorpe, Weldricks Chemists, and all parents/carers at Don Valley who made donations.

She started off the leg in Brigg on day 39 of the relay and was cheered on by huge crowds lining both sides of the street as well as lots of family and friends. Tim and Elinor from Don Valley Dolphins went along to support her and she did a great job, looking very cool as lots of people all flocked around her wishing her well at the start. Friday 25th March saw the 1st Don Valley Dolphins Fun Night, it was a great night with plenty of entertainment. We would like to thank all who attended and gave their valuable support to our club, generating a whopping £318. Nearly a hundred parents and swimmers attended enjoying pie and peas or hotdogs, with the children taking full advantage of the mini sweet shop.
We would like to pass on a massive thanks to the stars of the night 'Urban Jokers', a Doncaster based street dance duo who had everybody amazed with their phenomenal dances and tricks including routines which progressed them into the semi finals of Dance like Michael Jackson. Also the night would not have been quite as entertaining without the help of Lisa Drury, who's ability to keep the kids happy with her ingenius drama games and dance routines were priceless.
The night was only made possible by the hard work of numerous parents from the club including Nicola Butler, Tracy Drury, Tim Wood, to name but a few, and the amazing generosity of parents, who not only donated raffle prizes, but also came on the night to give their support.

All swimmers put in fantastic performance coming away with an abundance of trophies, and gave some outstanding individual displays.
We would just like to say a massive thankyou to all those who participated, and an extra special thanks to all the parents and helpers without whom none of this would be possible.
