Christopher Zello

Mozart Clarinet Concerto as a clarinet duet

In the spirit of the clarinet duet arrangements by Gustave Langenus of Bach, Brahms and Weber works, Christopher Zello has arranged the complete Mozart Clarinet Concerto K622.  This publication is distributed by Roncorp/Northeastern Music Publications and available online through The Music Mentor and also VanCott Information Services websites.

In the arrangement, the melody is traded between the players.  The solo clarinet line has remained intact, and the second clarinet plays the accompaniment beneath.  Where the solo line had rests in the original, it has now been assigned the accompaniment, and the second clarinet part then has the melody.  The result is a balance for both players, with the second part a bit more challenging than the first.  A fun way to learn the Concerto!

Special thanks go to Stephen McCray, Christian Ellenwood and Bill Helmers.

Two samples are available for preview:  Movement I  and Movement III.
