NMRA Membership

Coffs Harbour Railway Modellers is a division of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA). We invite you to join us for three complimentary meetings to see if you enjoy what we do. If you enjoy what we do, there are the following options for membership. Basic NMRA membership is just $25 per year.

Saturday Monthly Operation Sessions

On a monthly basis, we will have the layout set up for operating. You can join in on these sessions on the Saturday from 10am till 5pm for just $10 per session. We will guide you through the process of purchasing the right train consist for you to run round the layout. We will also be holding information sessions about Building and Designing your own model railway at home as well as how the layout works and programming of your DCC loco. These sessions are ideal for those who have no layout setup at home but want to fullfil their dreams of running trains. After three sessions you will be asked to join the NMRA.

Full Membership Into The Division

Get involved in all activities our division embarks in. The layout attends up to four model railway conventions throughout the year including Brisbane and Sydney Australian Model Railway Exhibitions, Newcastle Model Railway and Hobbies Show, and several local events as well as our normal monthly weekend meetings. Also be involved in the upgrading and development of the layout as it evolves into the future.

Full membership entails buying into the layout. A one off $620 payment, plus a regular monthly meeting cost of $10 per month. On top of this is of course the compulsory NMRA membership.

Other Advantages Of The NMRA

To further your enjoyment of the best hobby in the world, why not consider joining the more than 400 Australian and New Zealand members of the National Model Railroad Association. Membership enables you to meet other model railway enthusiasts of all scales and prototypes. NMRA members and their families meet each month at a member's home to marvel at the layout, discuss modelling and socialize. Members may borrow VHS videos and DVDs on modelling topics, participate in workshops and enjoy the conventions which are staged around the country each year.

You are invited to subscribe to Mainline, which is produced locally and published quarterly. It is a quality magazine choc full of articles, reports and local modelling information. You may also subscribe to Scale Rails, the monthly magazine published by the US Regions of the NMRA.
