Safeguarding Children – Child Protection
Safeguarding Children Statement
Brookfield's day Nursery is required under the EYFS statutory framework to set out a statement on Safeguarding Children and the procedures in place to protect all children in our care. It is Our legal duty to safeguard all children. We will work with the children, parents and the community to ensure the rights and safety of the children to give them the very best start in life.
The nominated people (Elly, Zoe and Bethany ) have received training in Safeguarding. They will continue to undertake additional training, attend meetings and study publications to ensure that their knowledge remains current at all times. They will ensure this knowledge is passed on to other staff members. All suspicious and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.
Our policy in respect to Safeguarding Children is:
As the Children Act (2006) states that the welfare of children is paramount, so our policy on Safeguarding Children has as its foundation the welfare of the child. Due to the many hours of care we are providing to a child it is possible that staff maybe the first people to become aware that there is a problem, even before the parent/carer. It is our policy to first carefully investigate the apparent abuse, neglect or welfare.
The staff are constantly reminded of their responsibilities in respect to Safeguarding Children issues and to ensure this they receive on going training in the important area of childcare. A copy of the booklet “What to do if you’re worried a child is being abused” is retained with other reference documents in the Day Nursery and these guidance documents are readily available to all staff.
All members of staff at Brookfield's Day Nursery are DBS checked before they are given responsibility of caring for the children.
Furthermore it is our policy to obtain written permission from parents/carers prior to photographs being taken of their children and for the circulation of those pictures to be restricted in accordance with their instructions.
Parents are able to view all of our policies and procedures we have a file in the office which your welcome to read through at any time.
If you have any concerns or questions feel free to speak to us

To care for your child as if they were at home.
We pride our nursery on being a home from home environment for children where we work with parents to ensure a smooth transition for children. (Ofsted 2014- This is a lovely homely nursery)
Our baby room staff follow your child's own routine, we like to continue the routine they follow at home to ensure a smooth transition into their nursery experience. We have our own sensory room which helps to simulate the babies senses and aid learning. We also have a separate sleep room and outside play area.
Our toddler room consists of a main room and access to the conservatory for messy play activities and other crafts and games.
Our pre-school has a large main room, access to the conservatory and outside free flow area. so that children can select where they would like to play. Our learning is based on learning through play and adult planned activities based on the child's needs and requirements.
All of our food is cooked freshly onsite, we follow a four weekly menu and have a summer and winter menu. Our babies have a cooked tea and the toddlers and pre-school have a light tea consisting of either sandwiches, salad, crisps and fruit or warm food for example: jacket potatoes, pizzas (the children often help to add extra vegetable on to them), beans with toast etc. A copy of all of our menus are available on the information boards. Any Allergies will be catered for.
All children have their own key worker who observes and tracks their progress throughout their time at nursery. At Brookfield's we use an online learning journey called Tapestry, which allows the parent to log on at home to view their child's progress through photographs and videos taken at nursery. This system is completely secure and the parents have their own unique log in which means only they can view their child's profile. This is an excellent way for you to see how your child is learning and developing and also have a glimpse into what they do during their day at nursery.
We follow the EYFS and our registered by OFSTED.
