Robert Gould is a graduate of the University of Wales, Swansea, a former teacher of history, and the author of history books for schools (The French Revolution & European Nationalism, 1848-71). He is also a librettist/lyricist for musical theatre.
Collaborating with composer Ty Kroll, Bob wrote the book and lyrics for three musicals, Lovers; Alone; and Vocalize! (which received workshop and concert stagings at the University of Wisconsin in Madison WI in 2002 and 2003.) With co-writer Jimmy Granstrom and composers Filip von Uexkull, Tristan Bons & Ty Kroll, Bob wrote the musical The Dying Game, which speaks for the victims of HIV/AIDS in Africa and received a showcase presentation at the Greenwich Musical Futures season in 2005.
With composer and co-writer, Christopher J. Orton, Bob has collaborated on the writing of the musicals Elephant Juice, Grace Notes, Based On a True Story, My Land's Shore and Flop! The World's Worst Musical. A workshop production of Based On A True Story was staged at the Jermyn Street Theatre, London in January 2010.

Bob is in the process of writing and developing the musical Roundabout with songwriter Joe Sterling and Shadow On The Sun with composer Omri Lahav and co-librettist/lyricist, Jimmy Granstrom.
Bob has also co-written short comedy plays, The Road To Port Of Barry, Independence Dai and The Shed with Christopher J. Orton - and, in addition to his musical theatre songwriting, Bob has written a variety of lyrics for pop, rock and folk songs with many composers worldwide, including Ben Messenger, Filip von Uexkull, and Dean Heller - and contributed lyrics to two albums of musical theatre songs with music by Tim Prottey-Jones (More With Every Line and Surrounded By The Sounds).
