DEC 2010 We now run about 80 breeders which are all Bazadais 1st and 2nd Cross.
Emerald Downes Butchery in Port Macquarie whom we were supplying has now retired and closed shop, so we have had to look further afield. Our butcher calves currently are sent to Asian Butchers and Restaurants in Sydney via a specialist retailer. They are sought after for their lean soft meat and high yielding carcases.
Below are some recent calves sold.
THE ABOVE 2 STEERS WEIGHED 504 AND 506 KGS AT 12 MONTHS.
BIG BEN SALLYS PRIDE 14 MNTHS OLD
Our stud was established in 1998 with the purchase of our first fullblood registered Bazadais bull Battage Passade, who gave us our first cross heifers. We then purchased Lindenbrook Validator the son of the famous Lindenbrook Sebastian. Our current herd bull is Nioka Inigo, a bull with extremely high tests for tenderness and feed conversion. We breed Bazadais cross Angus bulls for sale and supply butchers calves. We have found Bazadais produce meat with very high eating qualities.
We have now moved on further, have sold 25 bulls, 2 to McKay in Queensland, 2 to Condamine in Queensland and the rest in an area from Grafton to Taree in NSW. We recieve very favourable feedback and have placed 2 bulls on several properties. We find cattle breeders are becoming more aware of Bazadais and the benefits the breed gives. As times become tougher and we move down the global warming road we believe the Bazadais cattle will triumph because of their high saleable lean tender meat yield and their ability for quick growth. As the cattle industry embraces DNA testing such as genestar Bazadais are at the top end of results.
Kelvin & Laura Thompson of McKay Qld purchased 2 Bazadais x Angus bulls in Jan 07 and Kelvin says they hasve thrived in their new environment and he could not be happier with the offspring he now has.
Ian Kidd of Kempsey bought 100 Brahman heifers from Roma in Qld and joined with Bazadais x Angus bulls and is very happy with his calves.
Emerald Downes butchery at Port Macquarie NSW continue to take our butcher calves and are happy with high yielding lean tender, tasty meat.
Our herd continues to become more Bazadais focused and we are now receiving our 7/8 calves.
We currently have 2 fullblood registered bulls for sale and 2 high quality cross bulls. Weare offering Big Ben Magnus, a just turned 2 yrs 50% bazadais 50% angus bull at Kempsey Bull Sale on August 9 08.
