Our homebred golden buckskin mare, Aztec Fantasia, gave birth to a buckskin filly on 11.06.20. Photo at 24 hours old.

She's a chatty and athletic filly, giving her mum the run around!

Our second foal of the year has arrived....and we have another spectacular Currante baby!

A double cream filly who is either perlino or a super rare smokey cream. We shall have her dna tested to be sure.

This is our first filly from Bahia & Currante and we have named her Aztec Vainilla as it describes her colour very well.

Here she is at just 24 hours old.

Our first foal of the year has arrived, safe and well!

A super buckskin near leopard Spanish Spotted Saddle Horse colt from Topspotted Taidie and Currante VI.

We have named him Aztec Aislado which seems rather apt in the current situation the world finds itself in, as it means Isolated.

GBPRE Annual Breed Show 26th - 29th July 2018

I had a fabulous time at the annual Breed Show held at Hartpury College with the Snelling family and Sophie & Leye! They brought four Aztec horses bewteen them so it was a great Aztec get together!

The four year old PRE stallion Aztec Ebano certainly did us all very proud, winning the ANCCE 4 year old stallion class and also taking Best Movement, Best British Bred and then Functionality Champion.

This fabulous black stallion is owned by Michelle & Paul Snelling of Gables Oast Stud and is by Currante VI and out of our foundation mare, Mariquita CR. He was handled and ridden by one of their twin daughters, Kirsty.

They also brought along their Azteca gelding, Aztec Vespertino and I was privilged to have a ride on him.

He had a successful first show, competing in large classes with more expereinced horses:

4th Partbred Geldings & Stallions

4th Novice Ridden

3rd Iberian Sportshorse Geldings & Stallions

Vespertino is by our now retired stallion Espiritu and out of our retired QH mare Alder Bandit's Belle.

Mother and daughter Leye and Sophie brought their two horses to their first Breed Show. Sophie with her smokey balck PRE gelding Aztec Recorte and Leye with her golden buckskin Azteca filly Aztec Jovana.

Both tackled the Have A Go Agility and were not at all fazed by the various obstacles.

Recorte was 2nd in the PRE & Partbred Youngstock class, just beating his half sister Jovana into 3rd place.

Both are by Currante VI and Recorte is out of Mill Natillas and Jovana out of Aztec Delfin Montana.

Naranjo - check out those moves!

We went to see Naranjo, the colt we jointly own with Silverbrooke Andalusians, last weekend. He was very keen to show us his moves! He is such an athletic colt, with the most amazing uphill paces and we think he is destined for a dressage career like his Dad (Pomelo V)

Fourth foal arrives - 14.06.18

Mariquita CR surprised us and foaled in the midday sunshine! We have a black (possibly smokey black) PRE colt and we have named him Aztec Azabache which means jet.

Here he is at just a few hours old.

Third foal arrives - 10.06.18

Estanquera A, the palomino mare we own jointly with good friends Sue & Kieron of Silverbrooke Andalusians, has foaled over two weeks early. It's a good job becuase she has produced a huge chestnut colt! His sire is the palomino PRE Pomelo V.

Festival of the Iberian Horse - Pachesham 03.06.18

Posted by Aztec Andalusian Stud, Leicester on June 5, 2018 at 5:15 AM Comments comments (0)

Huge congratulations to Michelle & Paul Snelling, and their girls Katy & Kirsty of Gables Oast Stud! Their 4 year old PRE stallion Aztec Ebano was not only In Hand PRE Champion at Pachesham Festival of the Iberian Horse, but also went on to become Ridden PRE Champion too! All this, and only his very first show under saddle after being backed just eight weeks ago.

We are obviously thrilled and very proud with this result, especially as they were up against older and far more experienced stallions and riders.

Aztec Ebano is by Currante VI and out of our foundation mare, Mariquita CR.

UK - USA May Festival Show 27.05.18

Once again we had a lovely day at this friendly show for foreign breeds. This year it was held at Moreton Morrell College in Warks.

We are delighted that both Aztec horses that were entered,  have qualified for the Foreign Breed Society's National Championship in Sept.

Aztec Silverio won the Home Produced class and also got two 3rds in large ridden classes.

'Rio' is by our now retired stallion Espiritu and out of Aeils (Andalusian x Comtois)

We thought the pair looked stunning in their Concours outfit...

The 2 year old Azteca filly, Aztec Jovana, was placed 3rd in the Partbred Youngstock Class (and apparently would have been higher had she not been a fidget!) This was only her third show, and the first travelling alone, and she took it all in her stride as normal.

'AJ' is by Currante and out of Aztec Delfin Montana, so she's 3/4 Spanish and 1/4 Quarter Horse. Here she is strutting her stuff...
