From Beverly Hawman & Jake:
Lindy, as you know, Jake (rescued hound mix) and I started training at another facility and being new to dog training I thought "good dog - here's a treat" was the best way to go. After over six months of sessions, Jake was in charge, no fun to walk and could not be near other dogs without a lot of pulling and barking. This positive approach was leading to negative results!
One 45 minute session at A+ taught me how to still be positive and get positive results. I used the same collar and leash and was able to gain control! We are now able to walk without my fear of meeting others with dogs.
I look forward to further classes and I think Jake will benefit from more work. THANK YOU Lindy and Carolyn for teaching me how to enjoy my time with Jake. A+ is an appropriate name and deserving "grade" for the training I've received.

Bosley our Great Pyrenees was a great dog and benefitted greatly from your training. He was a pleasure to have with us and we miss him very much. Thank you for all of your help he was a well trained and well behaved dog and much of it was due to your help. Sadly he passed away this August. We miss him very much but thank you for your help in training him while we lived in Algonquin.

I've had dogs my whole life, and owned Bloodhounds with my husband for the last 25 years. Until Killian, I've always trained them myself -- they weren't perfect, but they were darn good family dogs. All of them came through breed rescue.
Then came Killian. We got him through a local shelter. And from the beginning, he was a nightmare.
He was a very insecure dog (though I didn't understand that, early on), and his response to any stress seemed to be 'the best defense is a good offense'. He would growl and snap; he was a holy terror with my other two BHs, especially the eldest. I was totally out of my league.
My husband called some trainers, and Lindy Sander at A+ Dog Training made the most sense. We've been working with her for over a year now, and Killian has not only graduated his beginner class (with the highest score of his class at graduation), but he's continued on to the advanced class, which he loves.
Lindy did a wonderful job of teaching us where we were going wrong, errors big and small, and how to show Killian that he did have a secure home -- but he was NOT going to run it.
We've worked hard with Killian, and he's learned a ton with Lindy's guidance. I honestly don't think this dog stood a chance of being adopted by anyone else, with his original behavior, so I think Lindy helped us save his life.
Currently Killian is living the life of Ryan, getting along with his humans and his BH sister, Nadia. He's blossomed into a loving boy who pleases us daily -- so much so, that I think we're going to take the plunge and try competitive obedience and rally with him.
Thank you, Lindy, we could not have owned this dog without all your help!
