Adornment and Collectables

Announcing two exciting programs for 2014.

I'm pleased to announce two courses Im teaching at retreats this year.

The first one is in April, as part of the wonderful ContextArt Forum taking place in the stunning Blue Mountains of NSW.

I will be teaching two programs at this event.

2-Day Workshop (Sat/Sun/ April 12/13):  ZENTANGLE WORKSHOP with Polymer Clay options. Zentangling is doodling using repeat patterns. Artists are increasingly embracing this form for creative purposes and others for its meditative results. In this workshop, you will learn how to zentangle so that you can take this drawing technique and apply it to whatever medium you are comfortable with, whether it be for embroidery, printing, jewellery, clothing, artwork, furniture, shoes and more. At the end of this 2 day course you will be confident in being able to create your own zentangle illustrations and have the option of making polymer jewellery which you have zentangled on and combined with wire working techniques. Suitable for absolute beginners or those with experience.  No materials fee – items available to purchase in class as wanted.

3-DAY Workshop (Mon/Tues/Wed April 14/15/16). POLYMER and SILVER workshop. In this workshop you can learn to use the revolutionary precious metal clay silver to create toggle clasps and bails and then incorporate a polymer clay pendant. There will be two styles of polymer clay pendant taught; one technique will be learning how to create polymer transfers and the other will be using the mokame gane method. In the course students will also learn about texturing, stamping and embellishing polymer with mica powders, inks, glitter and liquid clay. Suitable for absolute beginners or those with experience who wish to go further. Materials fee of $15 per person, payable to the tutor in class, for use of various polymer embellishments.

Later in the year, I will be zooming down the freeway to Canberra for the Contemporary Craft Retreat, October 17 - 19, 2014

In this two day workshop, students will have in depth hands on experience exploring a wide variety of plant matter for both immersion dyeing and eco print bundling. We will also be covering the use of mordants and their effects on dyeing, both in the premordanting and post mordanting stages. Simple shibori techniques are also included in this exciting two day workshop.
