This tutorial is a beginner's one, but you should at least know what some things in Photoshop does, like the "Brush" option on the toolbar. This happened in my class, "What does this brush tool do?" Im sorry, but that was just sad. Anyway back to the tutorial. I will give you a Bridget render I found over the internet, and with this, you will learn how to make a real simple wallpaper without having to do much! If you dont like this one, and you have one already, use your own then, just remember, not all renders will work with this wallpaper tutorial. Suggestion, happy looking characters.
Things you'll need:
Glitterspark Brush (I found this on a random google search)
The Bridget Render (Found this one in a Bridget pack ^-^! Remember, you dont HAVE to use this one)
I especally like this one, cause I used this for a background for a simfile I made for Stepmania, turned out great, and I didnt even have to use a render, anyway, lets begin!
Start off by making a new file
Width: 640
Height: 480
Background Contents: Transparency
I have it on transparency because it gets annoying having to always make the Background a layer, so with this, you dont have to worry about it.
Use the Magic Wand, set the Tolarence to about 10 to 20, and select the white background. There's a certin part you may have trouble getting rid of, so I will show you how I delt with this problem.
Once you get as much of the background you could get, you might be stuck with this part.
Tutorial Pic 1Now, to get rid of that, deselect it and choose the Clone Stamp. Find the opening, hold the Alt key and choose a line (could be up top of the opening or below it). Use the clone stamp, and try to close it up. I'm making you do this because you WILL come across something like this, with photo editing or just anything, eventually, you will come across this. Make sure the brush size is below 13, and Hardness to the fullest. (I forgot, his left ear has the same problem. Do the same thing you did with his shirt, with his ear).
This is how it should look when your done. Now just reselect the the background with Magic Wand, Tolarence 10 to 20. Once you've selected it all, right-click while your still using the Magic Wand and click Select Inverse.
Here's How it should look so far.Now go to the move tool, and drag Bridget to the new file.
This is how it should look like right now. Now, take the Eyedropper Tool and pick 2 colors that are MOSTLY used. I used the dark blue color of his shirt, and the color of his ears. Make sure the colors you pick are the mostly used ones, or it just wont go. Now, because Im too lazy to use the gradient tool, select the paintbucket (under the gradient) tool, make a new layer, and fill the new layer with a color, doesnt matter what color, and move the new layer under the layer where Bridget is. Now, right click on the layer and go to Blending Options. Here's an example of how this step should look like.
Tutorial PicGo to Gradient overlay, and make sure yours look similar to mine:
Grandient Overlay Options(Grandient Overlay should be checked, Gradiend should be Foreground to Background, Reversed, and the LIGHTEST color up to Position 35. If your using your own, make sure its Darkest color below, and Lightest color fading to the top.)
Still doesn't look all to well right? Thats why I linked you to the Glitterspark Brush I found on google. Open the brush by double clicking it, or right-clicking the picture while your Paint Brush is selected, clicking the arrow, and selecting the "Replace Brush" option and opening the file like that.
Find the one that has either Stars spread out or big/small Circles. Make a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N) and make some good brush marks. I will do both and show you the two samples. I hope you know that when I say "Brush Marks" i mean make single clicks all around so the entire picture is filled with the stars or circles. Dont combine them, they might clash REAL badly!
Once you've done that, you should have 3 layers. One is the Gradient background, should be at the very bottom, the layer you just finished doing, the one with the Circle or Star bush marks on, should be in the middle, and the top layer, your render.
Now, to finish it off. Take the layer that has the Circles or Stars, and duplicate it. Now, choose the one UNDER the duplicated layer and go to Filter>Gaussian Blur and set it to either 6-8. Its more brighter now. You can add some text if you want, and thats it! Here's what it should look like when your all done and added text:
