Ernster's Mailbox

Yay! NES Land's first mailbox. This month see's the publics response of the NES Land/NES WORLD feud and so much more!

*MAIL OF THE MONTH*
Hey! I go by the username 'cracked8ball'. I'm an old skooler in the whole
nes scene. been around a long time, collected loads of games. and used to
have many websites. one called nes world wide. (surprised martin didnt
harrass me over it. lol) and ive worked for sites like neschedda.com as
well. just wanted to write and say your site is looking good. It's good to
see some fresh sites pop up. however I must give some friendly advice. I
wouldnt waste time getting revenge on martin. i mean hes an old washed up
webmaster who can barely operate nes world anymore. the updates are pure
crap. I mean back in 1997 nes world had more content than it does now!. as
for ruudos, ace and nes-god, ive had run ins with each of them before.
theyre jackasses. ace whined about my website design looking similar to his
once just cause I used a table design. and nes-god used to frequent the
chatrooms i used to go to back in the day and was a real elitist bitch.
seriously I wouldnt waste time with martin and his arrogant followers.Theyre
idiots. Iv'e been there with my site. I let a personal vendetta ruin things
and the whole site collapsed cause the time i spent attacking my enemies the
site got neglected and my fellow staffers got pissed.. instead of wasting
time making attacks, why not put that energy into nes land instead of
messing with some has beens who will be gone soon anyways. that being said.
keep up the good work. im looking forward to the new updates

Ernster:Yes Martin is an idiot. We will not let Martin or anyone else get in the way of updating NES Land.

PowerPadMan: Martin really is a prick but now were trying to make peace
with him because fighting is stupid and Nes-Land might not succeed if we keep
fighting.

Hi Ernster!
I'm a swedish nes-collector, who has just visited your nes-land site. I can
tell you that it looks really promising. I hope you can make it being one
of the best nes-resources on the internet. I really like the time-machine
idea. If it wasn't for my bad swedish school-english I could have written
some reviews and maybe an article of growing up with the nes in sweden:)
Well, I also send a list of my nes-collection, I want to know what you think
of it.

Ernster: We will do my best to make NES Land one of the best NES resources on the net. Who said we aren't already the best? If you would like to write us an article that bad, you can always send us one and we can edit it for you.

PowerPadMan: Thanks! Thanks for the compliment on the site and my Time
Machine column. Again, I did not think that people would like it.

Hey man. Your site is okay, but the layout definitely leaves something
to be desired. the top row of nav buttons are overshadowed by the 20th
anniversary banner, and it would be nice if I didn't have to read 5
pages of a review that could be on one page. Also "dont" is not a
word, I believe you are trying to say "don't" or something. Use a
spellchecker. Also, what's with all the propaganda posts about nes
world? I mean, it's fine if you don't like martin, but jeez, give the
guy some credit. He's built a great site over the years with lots of
stuff you can't find at other places

Ernster:Firstly I have redesigned the site so none of those problems exist anymore. About my spelling, I am a good speller it's just I type to fast and didn't proof read my works until quite recently. As for Martin yes he has done great to keep NES World running for 8 years but as of late updates have been very few. I don't like Martin and never will, but our feud is over. I have made peace and aplogised many times, even though I did nothing wrong I was the one demanding peace! He continued to spit in my face and he is yet to say sorry. But as I said it's all over now.

PowerPadMan:The layout was a little weird but now its fixed. But I bet
you know that already :).And you whine about dont. I want to ask you a
question. Does anybody really care? And for NES-World. See the other mail
below.

I stumbled across NES Land today. Its pretty good. I was reading along and I read the NES World vs NES land article. I was thinking the whole way through, "who cares?" I am not a big NES World fan myself either...but why did you make a whole entire article on how Martin banned you from his messageboard? Man, when I started my site in 1999, EVERYONE gave me crap. Mainly because the site sucked. But I kept it to myself. Now, all the people that gave me crap are now enjoying what they onced bashed. So..please..for the sake of all that is good...would you kindly keep your fights out of the viewer's minds? All I want is NES, not fights...its pointless and makes your site look childish. Thanks.
-Weird-Edsel

Ernster:Thanks for your email. You have brought up some good points and I support you 100%. I am sorry for getting everyone involved but I had expose Martin for the low life bastard that he is. Me and Martin's feud is over now, and I haven't put up anything on the site about him. Im sure you and everyone will agree that I have been 100% committed to NES Land and have tried to put the whole feud behind me.

PowerPadMan: You probably did not read the whole article. There are a lot of
things Martin did besides ban him. But lets leave it in the past because I
HATE it when websites fight.

Sorry about sending this via mums email but why am i banned from the forums?

Ernster:You and everyone else were not banned from our forum. Someone from NES World, Martin or one of his friends, hacked into our forum and banned all the members including me!

Ifyou wanna chat about NES with the rest of the nes scene you should come to #nes_chat on irc.gamesnet.net

Ernster:Thanyou for the invite. Iv'e actually been there, cool place!

Hi,
Looking at your list of protos' I have a few that you don't have on your list and might want to add:The Escape From Atlantis
Miss Peach World 2 (american)(not a US release)
& Mr. Assy. These are Color Dreams protos.

Ernster:Thanks! Once we get hosting which will be a few days, those pics and many more will be on the site.

PowerPadMan: I LOVE prototype games since they get more popular then the
games themselves usually. My personal favorite prototype is Californa
Raisins.

Awesome site dude! good to see the scene is still alive.
~calgone

Ernster:Thanks! Im glad you like the site.

Hey whats up I was wondering if you need any help writing editorials. Ive been in the scene for a while and love creative writing, i enjoyed your article on smb3: behind the hype and could possibly write articles like that. i also enjoy writing humourously as well. ok well heres review of mega man 5
~calgone

Ernster:We are always looking for staff so email us and we will work something out.

PowerPadMan: Thanks for enjoying my article on SMB3: The Hype. I did not
think people would like it. Thanks for the review Calgone, besides my
reviews, thats the best one there!

It's good that you really seem to take suggestions from people into consideration and actually listen to them :-) Rare nowadays it seems, lol. Keep this up and I don't think your site will have any complaints!

Ernster:Yes, we always take eveyone's suggestions into consideration. That's one of the things that sets us apart from other sites.

PowerPadMan: True. Most sites dont listen to reader comments. The site just
began and its 2003. So mnay good websites are around. Thanks for all the
help guys! Ernster is making sure this site will be better!

Yeah, well, spelling errors and stuff like that are pretty easy to fix. If you want I can let you know whenever I find any.

Ernster:LOL, thanks for the offer. I'm working on my spelling errors.

As for the reviews, yeah, I'll go ahead and write some up. I'm not sure when I'll get to them though. Right now I'm having a busy time playing some GameCube games. I've been playing Resident Evil (The remake), Enter the Matrix, Code Veronica (PS2) and Golden Sun. lol. But I really do want to get to Ninja Gaiden. I haven't played the first one in such a long time, and the second one is outstanding. Actually, I think I wrote a pretty hefty review of that game last time I finished it (I just write them for fun sometimes). I'll go ahead and look for it on my computer and if I can find it I'll see if I can send it to you.
Alright, well, c-ya.

Ernster:Thanks. Make sure you get all the Ninja Gaidens, it's a fantastic series!

Interesting site. There are plenty of NES sites out there. Most are unattended, or shoddily designed. Yours has a good layout, and by this point your'e still updating. Off to a good start. Hope your search for Staff has been going well. You'll need 'em.
Essays about important milestones in the life of the NES might be interesting reads, if well-written. If you want a good, really interesting read about Nintendo's dealings over the life of the NES, pick up "Game Over" by David Sheff. You can then write a few essays.
Write about your memories of the mass hysteria that erupted worldwide when SMB3 was announced, then released. Or the story of how Tetrs was acquired from the then-communist Russia and was one of the first signs of good feeling between Russia and the West (and East) with the end of the Cold War. Or the legendary story of Mother, and why it's the gem of any ROM collector's collection. Or Nintendo's battle with pirated games from companies like Tengen.

Ernster:Thankyou very much for your email. You have been a great help. In fact we have used some of your ideas and did some articles and features on the site!

PowerPadMan: Thanks! Ive done The Super Mario Bros. 3 histera and Ernster
already did The Tetris saga.

I was reading your Castlevania review. I noticed that the first screenshot
is not from the Castlevania game, but from a game titled 8 Eyes. I'm sure
you just made a small minor mistake with this so I thought I would point it
out for you to fix.
domenSecondly, could you please send me scans of the following
adverts: American Video Entertainment (Both 1 & 2), NES Modem, and any
advert with Castlevania 3. I really don't want to wait until you get the
new hosting to see these adverts. Besides, I am going on vacation soon and
I had wanted to see them before I leave. Please send these adverts
directly to my email account from which I sent this.

Ernster:Oops it was a mistake, honest! Yes I will send you those pics that you want. Everyone else will have to wait until we get hosting which will be very soon!

PowerPadMan: It was a small mistake. Thanks. Ernster will fix it. 2. They
might not work until we get better hosting. Be patient! Its not gonna be
that long of a wait!

Hello dude! I was surfing by and I stumbled upon your page, I love
it. Anyway, I have some problems. I was looking over your NES
advertisements and I had really wanted to view a few of your scans (links
below) for both AVE adverts, the Codemasters advert, and the NES modem
advert. To my dismay, they didn't work!!!

Ernster:Our advertisements page isn't done yet. Once again, when we get hosting they will be working.

PowerPadMan: See last letter

Hey there, nice site! Will gladly exchange links with you. I didnt see a links section on your site or on the main page, unless i just missed it. Want a regular link on the main page, or an affiliate placement on my main page? Thanks!
Mark

Ernster:I'm glad you like the site. You are now a proud affiliate of NES Land!

PowerPadMan: You have to go to the extras section to get to the
links'affilates page. When we get better hosting, we might want to try to
get a regular Affilates page up.

Hey,I can write a few NES reviews up becasue i have an emulator (NESticles) and
i can play selected games on it (I only have NES, i dont rip off current
stuff). Plus, I can review the games on my old NES. I'll start writing somne
reviews up on some classic favourites, International Cricket, Aussie Rules
Footy, double Dragon 2, Battletoads, and many more.
Until then,

See ya later

Ernster:I look foward to your reviews, thankyou!

PowerPadMan:Thanks man. Games like International Cricket are not here in the
U.S. So I cant wait to see!
