T.N. Robinson AAMBC Book Reviewer Lookin' for a Lover, debut novel by Zaria Jones, is one of those books that is more than what it seems. You hear the title and assume its' another one of those books about a woman who is trying to find love and is continuously shot down. Don't misunderstand what I am saying, this book has that ingredient in it also, but the twists and turns in it make for a different kind of story. Although it got off to a slow start, Zaria made me appreciate that fact that I decided to finish it. From cover to cover it provides shocking scene's that would make the most conservative person question their inner thoughts and feelings. Zaria's writing style is unique in which it provides the reader with an overflow of description. The reader can visually see each scene at is unravels because of her very good choice in words and phrases. The characters in this novel are well developed which allows for a more personal connection. After reading this book, I was left wanted to know a little more about what happened to Zaria, Jey and Charmaine. It just the right amount of cliff hanging which will make to reader anticipate the sequel. If you like erotica, urban fiction, and some drama thrown in, you will love this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who has the patience to read through the background of characters with the notion that it will get good in a minute.

Is the Grass Really Greener on the Other Side?
In Lookin’ for a Lover, Zaria Jones is fed up with the male gender. Sick and tired of going on dates with men that are either married, in a relationship or selfish and self-centered, she wonders if the grass is greener on the other side. Zaria, deep down has always been curious when it comes to the same sex, but with the stigmatism of what society thinks and, of course, what her family and friends will think she is a bit apprehensive about crossing over. Yet, when she meets the sexy Charmaine, she decides to take a chance and see for herself. The question remains though, is the grass really greener on the other side?
Lookin’ for a Lover is a must read for anyone that is ignorant on same sex relationships. Ms. Jones did an excellent job in portraying how everyone is affected by same sex relationships, the feelings were so real, that I really felt for Zaria, when she had to deal with how others felt about her decisions. Honestly though, this book is so much more than just a woman struggling to come to grips with her sexuality. I was pleasantly surprised on how this book turned out; the synopsis on the back of this book did not do it enough justice. Trust me when I tell you, you have got to get your hands on a copy of this book, because you definitely will not see where this story is going or how it will end.

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. If that’s true, the characters in LOOKIN’ FOR A LOVER are sure to have a spot saved just for them.
Lookin’ For a Lover, the debut novel from author Zaria, follows the path leading to love, one that had such high hopes but doesn’t necessarily end on that street. The main character, Zaria Jones, thought her long-desired dreams of being with a woman were finally fulfilled, but, like life, doesn’t always work out as planned.
Zaria is a thoughtful, no-nonsense day care director by day, and a true freak at night. Her fantasies are of the woman variety, and are so vivid that she begins to question her sexuality. Despite what her dreams suggest, Zaria denies her passion, believing that it’s just because she hasn’t found “a good man” yet. She’s looking but hasn’t had any luck, except for her maintenance man, Blade.
Her luck changes when she discovers her perfect mate is a woman, whom she meets by chance at a local bookstore. Zaria is instantly entranced by Charmaine’s hazel eyes and bodacious frame. They hit it off and soon begin seeing a lot more of each other. It gets real serious real fast. Zaria couldn’t have imagined her all dreams could have come true with her first lesbian relationship.
From there, Zaria’s ready to tell the world how happy she is. Everyone’s not exactly thrilled with the couple’s new found love. It takes a strength Zaria’s never known to face the fact that she’s in love, and to get past the rejection from her family and friends. Zaria knows her relationship with Charmaine is worth the pain - or is it?
Lookin’ For a Lover is an intense but enjoyable novel. The book is filled with Zaria’s sugar-filled fantasies taken to the next level. Those moments alone will keep you enthralled, but the novel’s supporting characters and their storylines take the cake, as well. I definitely plan to read the sequel. With that being said, some of the book’s more outrageous situations will lead one to believe being gay is a catalyst to being crazy.
This makes for a more exciting read, but a sad one, nonetheless.

Wanted: A Good Mate, June 2, 2008
By Ms Toni "Avid Reader" (Midwest - USA) - 4 STARS
Zaria Jones is fed up with the lies and foolishness. She's looking for a new love, baby. A new love...yea yea yea yeah! What she didn't know was that that new love would look like her. She's traded in the boxers for a thong, the hard body of a man for the soft touch of a female. With Charmaine, Zaria has finally found what she's looking for in a mate. Or has she? Does switching sides automatically eliminate the lies and foolishness? Can another woman treat her just as bad as a man?
From the jump, it's obvious where "Lookin' For a Lover..." is going. In the hands of a less talented author, that could be a problem. But newcomer Zaria , in her promising debut, brings emotion and freshness to a familiar plot. She writes clearly and summons the necessary narrative, eroticism and creativity to carry this novel. Additional pluses - an interesting subplot and some tantalizing poetry. I look forward to getting reacquainted with Zaria in "Lookin' For a Lover...Again.
