Zac Efron at 17 Again premiere, and poker table with Kings of Leon

ZAC Efron broke more hearts on the red carpet last night, but had already shown his best play at the poker tables on Sunday with rockers Kings of Leon.

ZAC Efron was playing with the big kids when he took on US rockers Kings of Leon and world poker champion Joe Hachem at the poker tables at Crown on Sunday night.

Efron proved he was no slouch with the cards, emerging victorious after several hours of playing.

The game got under way at Crown after Efron's appearance on Rove and wound up about 3am on Monday.

"He is pumped. He wants to have another crack, but I would not have the heart to beat him," Hachem said yesterday.

"I think he (Efron) was probably the most seasoned player of all of them, even though he was the youngest.

"I think he has won one or two small tournaments in LA.

"We were only playing for fun money, but it is the competition that counts."

Hachem met Efron backstage at the Kings of Leon show at Rod Laver Arena on Saturday.

The Kings -- brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill and their cousin Matthew Followill -- are keen poker players and have pitted their wits against Hachem several times during their time in Melbourne.

Efron, who walked the red carpet at the Jam Factory last night for the premiere of his film 17 Again has been busy while in Melbourne.

Young girls, some who had queued since 8am, cried and screamed as the 21-year-old High School Musical star signed autographs and posed for photos at the Jam Factory in South Yarra.

Apart from catching the Kings show, he also attended the Grand Final of the National Basketball League on Friday.

Guests at last night's premiere included Michala Banas, Natalie Blair, Alan Fletcher, Brett Tucker, Alex Fevola and her daughter Mia, Wayne Hope, Simone Jade Mackinnon and Chris Grant.

Efron said his time in Melbourne had been "marvellous".

"Melbourne is a beautiful place. It is so easy-going, I can even walk around here," he said, alluding to the fact he was often followed by photographers in the US.

But any dream of slowing down seems impossible.

"Every time I think to myself, 'I'm too busy, I've gotta live!' then I go hang out with my friends in college, and they're just as busy as I am," he said.

"I'm enjoying everything about my life at this particular moment."

Efron, 21, rocketed to fame in his all-singing, all-dancing role in the High School Musical films.

He said 17 Again was the first step towards a different kind of acting career.

"It was a nice change, it was exactly what I was looking for

In a new interview with Elle magazine, Zac recounts the memorable meeting last November when the two sports enthusiasts sat court side and cheered on the Los Angeles Lakers.

"We talked the whole game, and he was just everything I thought he would be: smart, levelheaded, charming, hilarious," Zac says in the article. "You know, the older-brother vibe. That sounds so cheesy."

Pop Singer Jesse McCartney Launching Scent

American singer JESSE MCCARTNEY is set to add perfumer to his resume , after designing a scent exclusively for women.
The 21-year-old star has created women's perfume Wanted with fragrance marketer First American Brands Inc.
The perfume is a blend of bergamot and apple, with a hint of jasmine and rose and base notes of cedarwood, amber and musk.
It is due for release next spring (09).
.
Fragrance marketer First American Brands Inc. has signed 21-year-old actor and pop artist Jesse McCartney to a scent deal — and the singer’s first fragrance, a women’s scent called Wanted, is due to be launched in spring.

“He’s a young artist, hitting the stage right now and making a name for himself,” said Randall A. Christian, general manager of First American Brands, who noted the deal was signed in early August.

McCartney, who has released three albums on Disney’s Hollywood Records label, began his career as a child performer, appearing in the Broadway production of “The King and I” at the age of nine and later appearing on ABC’s “All My Children.”

When he was 16 years old, McCartney — no relation to the former Beatle — embarked on a solo musical career. The teen heartthrob’s first album, called “Beautiful Soul,” was released in 2004 and it sold more than 1.5 million copies. His second album, “Right Where You Want Me,” came out two years later, and his most recent release, “Departure,” which is meant to have a more mature sound, made its entry in May.

Executives at First American Brands predicted the fragrance would appeal to consumers ages 21 to 30 years old.

The name of the scent can be interpreted in two ways, noted Christian, either in the sense of a goal in which to aspire — or wanted, as in the case of an outlaw.

The scent is slated to be launched at department and specialty store doors in the U.S. in the February-March time frame.

Christian said he anticipates the scent could reach 1,800 doors in the U.S. during its first year on the market. While he wouldn’t talk numbers, industry sources estimate the scent could generate first year retail sales of about $15 million.

Fragrance supplier Drom blended the scent, a development process that involved McCartney picking the final formulation. The eau de parfum features top notes of bergamot and apple, a heart of jasmine and rose and base notes of cedarwood, amber and musk. It will be available in a 3.4-oz. version priced at $55 and a 1.7-oz. size for $45. A 1-oz. version, for $20, is also planned, as is a gift-with-purchase program featuring T-shirts and sleepwear.

The bottle, which was designed in-house to resemble a drop of water — or the tear of a lovesick teen — is intended to have a sophisticated feel, according to Olesya Ianovitch, marketing director for First American Brands.

An advertising and promotional campaign is in the works to support the launch of Wanted Jesse McCartney that could cost upward of $7.5 million, according to sources. The campaign is to include print advertising, an online marketing campaign and personal appearances.

Zac Efron celebrates his 21st birthday with family and friends

zac efronZac Efron celebrated his 21st birthday on Saturday with a low-key dinner party with friends and family.

The High School Musical star had a two hour dinner party at Italian restaurant Pace in Los Angeles with guests including his parents & brother, his co-stars and friends Monique Coleman & Ashley Tisdale, and other friends including Michelle Trachtenberg, Amanda Bynes, Brittany Snow and Aly & AJ Michalka.

Zac’s co-star and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens is said to have helped planned the party and was spotted leaving the restaurant with the birthday boy around midnight.

The couple were spotted heading to a nearby hotel, where they held a small after-party for their close friends.

Zac recently told David Letterman that he planned to enjoy his first legal drink on his birthday but not have a big party because he’s too busy with promoting High School Musical 3: Senior Year at the moment, ahead of its release this week.

Co-star KayCee Stroh added that while everyone around him would like to help him celebrate big-style: “He’s that guy that would rather sit down with friends and have a good discussion than deal with the craziness.”

HSM3: Senior Year is released in the UK on Wednesday and in the US on Friday.

Zac Efron To Star In Pirates 4

zac efron, Pirates of the carribbean 4, johnny depp,

He’s reportedly signed up to work with Johnny and Keira…

Zac Efron will star in Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 and, according to reports, will bag £6 Million for the role.

Efron is one of Disney’s biggest stars through the High School Musical films and now it seems they want to keep him on.

The deal also secures the 21 year old for High School Musical 4- which he’d previously been reluctant to commit to.

Zac will now star alongside Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp in the next Pirates movie- which is likely to hit cinemas in 2010.

It’s currently unknown what role the HSM star will take in the series but we reckon he’d be great as Jack Sparrow’s younger brother!

Zac Efron has reportedly signed a $12million deal to star alongside Johnny Depp in the next Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Johnny’s castmates Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley aren’t expected to return for the fourth installment of the film franchise and according to inside sources, Disney think the High School Musical star will be the perfect person to join Captain Jack Sparrow on screen - and maybe take the lead role in the future.

The inside source explained that when the film was first discussed a year ago: “Zac was extremely interested. But Disney realised they couldn’t make the fourth Pirates movie without Johnny. They had to offer him a small fortune to do it.

“Now he’s onboard, they’re finalised the deal with Zac. He’s getting a lot of money for it too but Disney think it’s worth it.”

The first three film in the series - The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End - are thought to have grossed more than $2.7 billion worldwide.

Jesse McCartney Knows How to Impress the Ladies

Pop artist Jesse McCartney knows how to impress the ladies. The singer announced yesterday he’s making a women’s fragrance, called Wanted and he’ll buy you a drink. (Don’t worry he’s old enough to drink alcohol.)

Let’s talk about the fragrance first. Fragrance marketer First American Brands Inc. signed 21-year-old McCartney to a scent deal in early August. (Told you he was old enough to drink.) Randall A. Christian, a general manager of First American Brands feels, “He’s a young artist, hitting the stage right now and making a name for himself.”

The bottle for Wanted was designed to resemble a drop of water or the tear of a lovesick teen and is due to launch in spring 2009. If your teen is lovesick for McCartney, expect to see the Disney star in a ton of print advertising, a hefty online marketing campaign and personal appearances for the fragrance.

Now adults, let’s move on to the drinking. Well not actual drinking but August was a busy month for McCartney as he also participated in Pepsi’s Smash Cover Art for Yahoo. Below is his cover of T-Pain’s “Buy You A Drank.”

Zac Efron dances into spotlight

They grow up so fast.

Two years ago, a little movie called “High School Musical” debuted on the Disney Channel. It quickly became a phenom, yielding a hit album, live tour, a 2007 TV follow-up and now a big-screen sequel with “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.”

Zac Efron emerged as a breakout star of the series.

“We were just in Germany, in Munich,” Efron said of the worldwide tour he and his cast mates just completed. “Someone played us back a clip of ‘High School Musical 1’ and you could see in everyone’s face that no one had any idea of what ‘High School Musical’ would become. We didn’t even really know what we were doing yet.”

He smiled. About to turn 21, he’s gone from an unknown to Hollywood’s go-to guy for any big musical, from a pending “Footloose” remake to the “Hairspray” sequel.

“It’s really been a crazy journey since then. Very much a growing experience. Very much a high school experience. We’ve learned so much,” Efron said.

Like how much hard work it takes. “HSM3” had 15 days of dance training before filming began.

“At the end of numbers we did, like ‘The Boys are Back’ or ‘Scream,’ I thought that my limbs were going to fall off at the end of the day.”

The “Boys” number was filmed in a real junkyard.

“All very real,” Efron said. “We were jumping on cars and we had some battle scars - cut, bruised, beat up - when we were finished. It was pretty intense.”

He cites Gene Kelly as his inspiration, who, like Efron’s character Troy Bolton, demonstrated that real men can dance.

“I always think of Gene Kelly because of ‘Singin’ in the Rain.’ It wasn’t so much that I looked at him for pointers or anything, but I just always admired how commanding he was. It seemed to me like he pulled off tap dancing in the most manly of ways. I always admired that. Not everyone could make it look so cool.”

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens: TRL Dancers!

Taking to the TRL studios, “High School Musical 3” stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman all turned up for a taping of the popular MTV show to promote their new movie.

During the course of their time on-satge, Zanessa stepped up arm-in-arm, proceeding to dance the classic waltz together with TRL co-host Lyndsey Rodrigues joking, “Good practice for the wedding!”

Meanwhile, Zac has spoken of what it has been like working for the ultra-successful Disney franchise to kick off his career in film.

“I don’t know if you can put it all into one specific memory. I think it is just the environment. This has been a very safe and creative place to work for the past three years. It is going to be pretty hard to leave behind,” Efron tells.

Exclusive: Teen heartthrob Zac Efron on his return in High School Musical 3

ANYONE who has a girl in the house, usually under 10, will know just what High School Musical heartthrob Zac Efron means to them.

One of biggest male stars in America is squeaky clean, has boyish good looks and dazzling blue eyes, which make the girls go weak at the knees.

And while he wants to prove his worth as a serious actor, for the moment, with the third High School Musical film about to be released later this month, he is still a first crush poster boy.

Zac, who turns 21 in just over a fortnight, is mobbed wherever he goes - even on the Isle of Man when he was filming earlier this year, but he seems to be managing worldwide fame.

"Every once in a while I get a great big hug and a kiss from someone I don't know," said Zac. "It's hard to have a normal life because I get recognised.

premieres hsm3 london 11

vanessa hudgens premieres hsm3 london 11

"If I have any influence on kids, hopefully it is through my work rather than my private life. I prefer to keep personal stuff out of it.

"I don't want to cross that line into celebrity. That's when things start to get really crazy."

However, the trouble for Zac is that as well as being the star of a huge television and film franchise, he is also dating co-stars Vanessa Hudgens, 19, who plays class swot Gabriella Montez, the love interest of his character Troy Bolton.

Like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' Tom Kat, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's Brangelina, Zac and Vanessa are known in Hollywood as Zanessa.

The young actor shrugs: "Well all I can do is laugh about it."

But other than that, Zac keeps details of his romance with Vanessa to himself, saying only that she is a "great girl".

In fact, Vanessa's career was almost over before it began when nude pictures - taken on her mobile phone and meant only for Zac - surfaced on the internet before the first High School Musical movie.

Since then, she has been voted number 12 in the Maxim Hot 100, and Zac is proud of her.

He said: "I wasn't like 'I don't want anyone looking at her.'

"No, I was proud. She deserves it."

Although instant fame has given them their own super couple name and fame beyond their wildest dreams, Zac claims the pair hit it off right from the start.

He said: "We have been working together since the beginning of the audition process.

"We immediately started having fun. At the first audition. We knew we had a slim shot of getting in, so we just went in there and had fun and gave it all we could.

"At the end of the day, our head shots were still together and we are still performing now."

High School Musical first hit screens in 2006 on the Disney Channel and became the most successful movie ever shown - the premiere was watched by 7.7 million viewers.

Zac admits his life changed overnight.

He said: "It was crazy. The first movie had just been released and I went into Tower Records in LA.

"It was an unrelated autograph signing and there were lots of kids about.

"I walked in and the whole room went silent. I looked around and everyone was pointing at me. I had to back up and run to my car. It was just crazy."

In the UK, the film - based on Romeo & Juliet - took longer to take hold, with 789,000 watching the premiere. Since then, it has been shown on the BBC and has become a favourite for young British girls.

Now, along with singing the film's songs such as Breaking Free, youngsters can also buy a whole range of High School Musical merchandise, including pyjamas, T-shirts, hair dryers and video games.

The original film won an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography, while the soundtrack went on to become America's Soundtrack Album of the Year in 2006.

Last year the television sequel, High School Musical 2, was released. The premiere was watched by 17.3 million people in the US, making it the highest-rated cable broadcast in American television history.

The soundtrack from the second film won the Best Soundtrack Album at last year's annual American Music Awards.

This month's £7million High School Musical 3: Senior Year, will be the first of the franchise to be shown first in cinemas.

It opens on October 22, four days after Zac's 21st birthday, and the actor admits the timing is perfect.

He will be in London on Tuesday for the premiere of the film, but some lucky Scots will get a chance to be part of the fun at a special regional premiere at Cineworld on Renfrew Street, Glasgow, on the same night.

Alot of actors say they can't watch themselves because of the size of the big screen and Zac can see why.

He giggled: "Yeah, I can relate to that completely. It is really tough to watch yourself.

"You watch your face and all you see is all the little quirks you have and all the funny things you do. You don't really see a character. You see right through it because you made it.

"But you just have to take deep breaths and take it for what it is."

While he might not like seeing his face up on the big screen, Zac admits he regularly searches for his name online.

He said: "I like to read the blogs. I love the discussions online. They are hilarious."

By checking out internet forums, Zac will realise how big a star he is becoming.

And while there is no word on whether he'll be in the fourth High School Musical film, especially as the kids graduate in the new film, Zac is a busy boy. As well as are make of Footloose, the actor will show he's not just a pretty face with Me and Orson Welles, which was shot on the Isle of Man as well as London and New York, earlier this year.

The film casts Zac as a teenager who is hired to star in Orson Welles' production of Julius Caesar, and becomes attracted to a career-driven production assistant, played by Claire Danes.

Zac said: "I had experience of being in a play when I was a kid, and there's no feeling like it.

"Portraying that in a film is surreal. When you are in a play and you forget your lines, the director comes down on you really hard."

With a knowing wink about his own romance he added: "And finding romance during a play, that happens."

Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron to Star in High School Musical – Twilight Crossover

Twilight

Disney and Warner Bros. today announced plans for a "High School Musical" – "Twilight" crossover film that will co-star Zac Efron, the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus. Set for release in June of 2009, it has already sold $1.2 billion worth of advance tickets on Fandango.com.

The new film, tentatively titled “Twilight: The High School Musical,” will follow Bella Swan from the “Twilight” book series as she transfers to East High School and discovers that Troy Bolton (Efron) is a cousin of her vampire love Edward Cullen. In a twist from the first “Twilight” movie coming out this November, Cyrus will play Bella and Joe Jonas will take the role of Edward, who gets jealous when he discovers Bella co-starring in a musical withTroy. Nick Jonas will play Edward’s previously unseen adorable kid brother. Kevin Jonas will play a janitor.

America’s teenage and pre-teen girls now belong to us,” Warner Bros. chairman Alan Horn and Walt Disney Pictures chairman Dick Cook said in a joint statement. “Our research shows that this film will bring the nation’s babysitting economy to a halt as girls between the ages of 9 and 17 literally move into the nation’s multi-plexes for the summer to watch ‘Twilight: The High School Musical’ in a never-ending loop.”

Responses across the country have ranged from ecstatic to incoherently insane.

“Ohmygod! Ohmygod! Ohmygod! Ohmygod! Ohmygod! Ohmygod!” said 12 year-old Lindsay Nathanson of Rye,NY.

“Thank you Lord Jesus. I’ll keep myself pure until marriage just like I promised when I prayed for this!” added 14 year-old Alison Fricke of Caryville,TN.

“Twilight: the High School Musical” will replace the previously planned “Twilight 2” and “High School Musical 4.”

Cook and Horn said they will only stop playing the film in theaters when American parents band together and offer the two companies a bribe of at least $700 million. “The bigger the bribe, the fewer tie-in products we release and the longer we wait to release the film on DVD and start production on a sequel,” the two executives added. “Parents across the nation: If you ever want to see your daughters again, you will pay dearly to the Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros.”

Jesse McCartney joins cast of Greek

photo

Jesse McCartney will show off his beautiful soul on the Cyprus-Rhodes campus next year.

The singer-actor will join the cast of ABC Family's Greek for its midseason return in spring 2009, it was announced Monday.

McCartney, 21, will play Andy, a high school friend of Calvin's (Paul James) who fuels a rivalry between the Kappa Tau and Omega Chi houses when he proves to be an in-demand pledge. In addition, Ken Marino will guest star alongside Jacob Zachar, who plays Rusty, as a fellow summer camp counselor.

Greek launched its sophomore season on Aug. 26 and improved on its first season with increases across key adult, women and 12-34 demographics.

When Greek returns for the second half of its second season, Casey (Spencer Grammer) will have to deal with a secret sorority and spies as she enters her senior year, while Rusty returns as a sophomore and a full-fledged active Kappa Tau member.

As usual, with each new year comes rush, when the new incoming students are battled over by the frats and sororities.

McCartney, who recently appeared as a guest performer on Dancing With the Stars, is a singer and actor who appeared on Summerland and All My Children in addition to lending his voice to the big-screen Alvin and the Chipmunks as Theodore.

Marino, a 39-year-old comedian and actor, most recently appeared on TV as the gay demon Tony on the CW's Reaper and private detective Vinnie Van Lowe on Veronica Mars.

High School Musical star Zac Efron struggles with the film's dance routines

High School Musical star Zac Efron has admitted that dancing does not come easily to him, and that he has to work hard to master the film's complicated routines

Efron, 20, said: "I'm definitely not a dancer. I grew up being into sports and I wasn't trained to move my body in the right way for dancing. I'm the last one to get any move correct.

"In rehearsals it's always, 'OK, one more take for Zac'. "

The premiere of the third film in the series, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, is held in London today.

It sees Efron's character, the athletic Troy, torn between a future in acting and basketball.

The choice was not a difficult one for Efron in real life.

He said: "I played for a few years when I was at school. I remember a championship game when I was in the sixth grade.

"I gave away the ball at the last second and the other team scored.

"I lost the game for my team. It was pretty bad. It's much more fun now because it's usually in the script that we win."

He intends to concentrate on acting, and will soon be seen in the film Me And Orson Welles, alongside Claire Danes.

He said: "I look at other jobs in the world and I'm just very grateful that I get to do this every day, to sing, dance and be with my friends. It's crazy that we even get paid for it.

"I never set out to be a star or one-up anybody. Acting was just something I loved to do and always had fun with. That has been like a rule to me, to always remember that.

"I've never done things based on money. I've always tried to do the sort of things I'd dig myself and that I'd like to watch.

"I also think there's a lot of luck involved, being in the right place at the right time."

But it hasn't all been good news for Efron. One foreign newspaper reported that he had died, causing distress and confusion among his young fans.

He said: "I was really shocked to find out - and my mom was real upset too when I called and told her."

Efron has also made his way into many gossip columns after becoming involved with his High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens, 19, who plays Gabriella.

He said: "We are just very comfortable together as friends, as actors.

"We are used to it now. We have done quite a bit. It is not like being with a brand new person.

"We have grown to a certain level of comfort in these past movies over the years.

"Now it comes very naturally acting together."

High School Musical 3 opens in the UK on October 22.

Zac Efron's deadly rumours

Zac Efron's mother was left devastated when she heard a rumour her son had died.

The 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' star was the victim of an inaccurate story published by a foreign newspaper claiming he had been killed.

He said: "I was really shocked to find out - and my mom was really upset too when I called and told her."

The 20-year-old actor also admits he is not a very good dancer, despite leading many of the set-pieces in all three of the hit Disney films.

He added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "I'm definitely not a dancer. I grew up being into sports and I wasn't trained to move my body in the right way for dancing.

"I'm the last one to get any moves correct. In rehearsals it's always, 'OK, one more take for Zac.' "

Zac has previously said he would love to star in a remake of classic musical 'Grease', which originally starred John Travolta.

He said: "If John was involved I'd do it. But without his consent there's no way I could ever attempt a role like that. That's too hard, he's just too cool. He's a stud!"

Jesse McCartney Finally Hits Big Screen In 'Keith' -- But Is He 'The Next Leonardo DiCaprio'?

The new film "Keith" is one best enjoyed by those who know nothing about the plot. The movie's characters experience twists and turns, flavored with adversity and triumph, that often leave their future in doubt.

It seems only appropriate, then, that Jesse McCartney's long-awaited film debut should finally emerge after nearly a half-decade of similar uncertainty.

Jesse McCartney in "Keith"

"Making an independent film is a slow process," writer/director Todd Kessler said while speaking with MTV News this week, remembering the film's lengthy birthing process. "You have to pull in all your favors. You have to wait for free equipment to be available and this and that, and you just do it one step at a time."

Three years ago, we visited the Southern California set of the independent teen drama and found a hard-nosed heartthrob eager to prove that he had the chops to follow in the footsteps of heroes Robert De Niro and Edward Norton. At the time, the film had already gone through a long period of so-called "production hell," and McCartney had been selected for the in-demand script over a throng of similar up-and-comers.

"We had Shia LaBeouf attached to it before Jesse, but Miramax didn't feel like he was going to be a big enough star," Kessler laughed. (Lindsay Lohan and Kristen Stewart were also considered for the film's female lead at one point.) "Companies like Miramax were afraid that we could never pull it off, and they wanted us to make [the character of] Keith nicer and quirkier and cuter. We finally wrestled it back out after being theirs twice. It was a long, complicated process, but when they ran into their problems with Disney, I was able to get the project back independently, although on a very small budget, and get it made the way I always wanted to make it."

The onscreen tale that survived was recently screened for us, and the result is a refreshingly unique teen-targeted film unlike anything most studios would be brave enough to release. In essence, the film is about a regimented high school princess (Elisabeth Harnois of "One Tree Hill") with her mind on tennis scholarships and AP classes who falls for mysterious, free-spirited slacker Keith (McCartney) - but that's only where the story begins.

"Every teenager today has seen the John Hughes movies of the '80s," Kessler said of his tone. "There's still a need for those kinds of dramas, but somehow the film industry hasn't found the key to meeting that need."

The centerpiece of the film is undoubtedly McCartney, whose role calls for him to be smart-alecky, endearing, enigmatic and a complete jerk, often all at once. It's the kind of complexity that, if not handled properly, could crush an actor. And although he has appeared onstage and in TV shows and loaned his voice to films like "Alvin & the Chipmunks," this film is a major step forward in his acting career.

"He prepared intensively. When he was on tour [with his music], I understand that he spent hours in front of the mirror in hotel rooms working on his character, working on his stance - even little details, like how he puts his hands in the pocket of his jacket," Kessler marveled. "Everybody who sees the movie now is impressed, and the buzz is happening from those who think he's the next Leonardo DiCaprio."

It's that sort of warm reception that has kept the actor and director working hard on their little film as the years have gone by - coupled with the support of fans who have propelled tracks like McCartney's "Leavin' " to the top of the charts. "There's a young woman in Florida who started an online petition to get the movie in theaters," Kessler said. "Jesse's tremendously popular in Italy. I get a lot of e-mails from Italy. Somebody posted the movie [illegally] on the Internet for download yesterday, and they had to shut them down. I suddenly got e-mailed on Facebook - e-mails from as far-flung as Slovakia, Malaysia and Denmark yesterday - saying, 'I watched the movie three times, and it's better each time I see it!' "

Now, after touring various film festivals, "Keith" finally makes its theatrical debut this weekend. "Gray Area Entertainment is doing a test release in Vegas starting on Friday," Kessler said. "Depending on how that does, hopefully it will platform from there to other markets and around the world.

"Jesse did take a risk when he decided that he wanted to do this role," the director said in praise of his leading man's unorthodox journey to the big screen. "I'm sure not everyone advised him to do it, because it was a risk. But he pulled it off - and he did a fantastic job."

Jesse McCartney, One on One

Voice intern Kathy Rudd joined the line of fans waiting for a chance to shake hands with Jesse McCartney before his concert on Thursday at the PCCC. After speaking with several press agents and McCartney’s bodyguard, Kathy was allowed to ask Jesse exactly three questions:

Rudd: “What’s the best part about touring and what do you think of Springfield?”

McCartney: “Touring is one of my favorite parts about the music business… It’s great to start from scratch and take your music and build a show.

“As for Springfield, my team got here two days ago and it was raining. We did have the chance to go bowling at King Pin Lanes. That’s sort of become a tradition between me and the guys.” (Jesse bowled a 104)

Rudd: “Do you try to send any messages with your music? Any specific messages for teens?”

McCartney: “Well, the music is written from my view, so the content is from a 21-year-old, and I think most people around that age can connect with it… They’re (the lyrics) all things I’ve experienced, especially relationships.”

Rudd: “What’s your favorite part of the show?”

McCartney: “It’s always a new show every time. The stage is the same, but it’s a new show. There’s room to keep it fresh for myself and for my band. As for my favorite part of the show, there’s a song “Relapse” that’s really high energy.”
