About Do As Infinity
Between a lot
of Japanese group, duo or solo, I’m really admire band’s called Do As
Infinity, coz they can struggle to show their good ‘live performance’
since they’re only STREET BAND who held live concert at Shibuya (Tokyo) 5
years ago. Now they can perform their concert in big stage. I’ve heard
that in some concerts They invite some street music players (who’re their
friends too since they’re not famous like now). Do As Infinity're consist
from Tomiko Van (Vocalist, Words), Ryo Owatori (Guitarist, Chorus) also
Dai Nagao (Bassist, Programming, Composer).
Their music
style's combined from rock, pop, alternative, and ska. Both fast and slow
songs, they're good ^-^, with powerful voice from Tomiko and cool guitar
playing from Ryo and Dai Nagao, their performance is great, especially in
live concert,
' Deep Forest Live Tour 2001 in Shibuya' and 'Do The Live' is one of
amazing show that I've watched :D. They usually add more additional
player such as percussion, keyboardist, and other guitarist. a Also like
voice colours from Tomiko , coz it’s better than other Japanese bands that
have female vocalist too, like ‘Every Little Thing’ (Kaori) or ‘Globe’
(Keiko). Maybe her technique isn't really good but actually it can be
trained by be fit and drawing air from stomach when singing. She has
capability to do that but I think she suit singing in low-medium range
like HoCC. Oh yeah I assume Ban Chan fave color is green, she seems really
get into 'green peace' mind hehe

some review of D.A.I songs :D.
Need Your Love
'Robot', this song sounds like
soundtrack Gen Y Cops by Edison Chen
:D, especially in the intro and voice effect part but its got more
different when its comes to main tabs at the whole of the songs,
especially at its arrangement on the rhythm in each part of tunes
composition (coz Edi songs is too much remix), this song is better, more
band sound and electric guitar stuff ^^, there's some quiet in each
distance part of tabs which create it more unique
but can make it
more dynamic, nice song ^^ yeah.
'For The Future', this song got much rocks
:D, though I feel that the the tunes are too high for Tomiko voice range,
and I heard there's some crack hit it >.< (also she try spell 'Future'
with UK accent which got me hear that's so fairly cute hehe ^^). Its got
most accelerate beat with dynamic rhythm which give full energy through
the drum and electric guitar with cool distortion which layered in most
part of each tabs. Got feel like alternative ska song 'Honjitsu Wa
SeitenNari'
but honestly I like the tunes arrangement in Hojitsu,
coz its got more dynamic. This song sounds too much repeating, it's okay,
still enjoy for listening it :P yeah.
Do The B-Side
'Be Free’, this catchy song is
typical on mainstream rock hit which give me happy and more active doing
my homework after hearing haha :D. I like quena stuff in a whole of coda,
OMG the tunes is so sweet^^, the background is filled with great twinkle
echo both the acoustic and electric guitar playing also there's zero
interval which making it more plunx extend.
Wow! this upbeat song can make you smile to hear it,
and damnnnn It's got a great chorus,
everything builds up to it. The end is nice. Tomiko going 'du dudu dududum
du dudu dududum.
Gates Of Heaven
'Honjitsu Wa
SeitenNari', it's started with
vocal intro layered with loud effect from electric guitar. This song
totally awesome. Its really make me to move my head up and down through
listening :P,
it’s really dominant
with ska style also I luv when the music stopped and then followed by
accelerating fast beat from the distortion guitars and drum.
The
video is really cool. I should probably say, as everything's on live
stuff. Ryo and Tomiko are really having fun during the show ^^
'Buranko’, after listening more DAI
songs, I like how they put some Japanese element, this song has proved it,
yea I'm supporting Asian band who isn't only copying a whole western
stuff hahahaha :D, it's better if they show what the best part from
oriental stuff. I dunno wut music instrument which's played in since
the first 45 second also almost part in all codas, but its sounds cool and
the tunes belongs to the Dai put much in Ayumi songs too :D, I only know
Soukachi which's used in some of
霆鋒song. Maybe I must search
about Japanese music instrument more hehe^^.
I’m really touched when I saw
MV ‘Field Of Dreams’, it’s different from other DAI’s MV, it’s simple and
just show some photos from a lot of street musician at some zones in
Tokyo. There’s guitarist, pianist, also saxophone player in some trotoars.
‘Field Of Dreams’ is soft rock song which's started by tomiko voice and
then followed by nice acoustic sound and also covered by repeated
electric guitar tunes but it's still controlled by slow dynamic rhythm in
drum. In choda there's solo bass playing with keyboard tunes
background and also solo electric guitar playing which becomes slower
until the end of its chorus.
Do The Best
'Hi No Ataru Sakamichi',
this song sounds typical like soft rock, but I like this one which heard
simply but nice through acoustic and electric guitar background which's
arranged in suitable medium beat, its guitar solo in coda is so cool
and growing up tunes is put in the chorus straightly. I also luv the MV
which have white door opened and entering the dreamland inside the
landscape painting which describe more element about four weather :
summer, autumn, winter, and spring, so romantic stuff haha^^, when its
describe the winter, its reminds me of MV 'Perfect Inspiration', I think
this one of my favorite MV hehe :D.
True Song
'Under The
Sun', the intro's filled with repeated melody from
almost of all electric guitar (one with far effect and one's original).
This song have fast beat (It's hard enough to sing it he he ^-^), but not
too fast too ^-^. With Upbeat rhythm from drum, there's electronic sound
in choda which's layered with fast guitar playing. There's
faster one, the title's 'Grateful Journey', but I think it's Rock song
which's found so much in Deep Forest Album, I think its solo guitar are
too repeated, not sense too much, but it's still good.
‘Shinjitsu
No Uta’, this song have ‘Er Hu’ (Chinese Violin) intro (I’m not sure
who’s playing in there coz when I saw in its MV he has long hair which
covers his face he also wears eyeglasses), but this song's really unique,
the chinese element's combined with grunge style from bass playing. Its
alternative style heard clearly in its chorus, oh yea beside Er Hu there's
chinese harp too, but Er Hu sounds more clearly. Its MV has desert
as the setting, Tomiko and Ryo looks brown in there ^-^, I feel ghastly
when I saw some people with black cassock in there. I'm absolutely adore
this track, really different and unique.
'Sense Of
Life', there's water sound in intro also more electronic sounds at the
whole of its song. This song sounds sway, not like this one too much but
it's still good to be heard. I like the next track 'Badachi', this song
doesn't need turned on continously for becoming my fave song. Its tunes'
re created simply but this song becomes more attractive with spreading its
arrangement, although there's a lot of repeating guitar tunes.
'Wadachi', there's a lot of break in each distance on tab sounds
which make it dynamic though its on taken medium beat. I like the intro
beat ^^, it's really matching the tunes composition. But then really
different after its coming to the chorus and then back to same beat in
coda like intro, very impressive arrangement, Its doesn't make u boring
through listening :D.
At the End track of True Song Album, the title's
Ai No Uta, sounds like song from Vanessa Mae, but it's not classic, it's Rock
song which's blurred with ska also country style, have fast beat,
and thumbs up for fast violin playing (it's hard lol ^-^). There's hidden
track 'Tookumade' (I think it's live recording version), Tookumade MV has
war theme, almost pictures are taken in black and white. Both Tomiko and
Ryo wear soldier clothes in there.
Deep Forest
'Fukai Mori',
it is soundtrack from anime 'Inuyasha', most covered by guitar
playing and lovely stringed playing as DAI music icon. Hmm also like the
drum beat which's adapted by little grunge and electronic sounds in its
choda, the melody 's well created, basically it's slow songs, pop
alternative style, it's absolutely gorgeous. I luv the MV of
this song, especially in video zoom and transition using old building and
forest as the setting, its describe this song.
'Tookumade’, this one is combined
greatly between catchy rhythm but still have satire emoticon in the way
Tomiko's singing, the most great part when I'm watching the MV with almost
layered with army and war background, it's cool setting :D (Also its
inspired Jay Chou for making his MV in one of in Eight Dimension
album hehe^^), First I've listened this song in Deep Forest 2001 concert,
I've been attracted with the intro which has a meditative 'green peace',
it's really describe the message which'll send to the listener to get over
the War ^^.
'Boukensyatachi’, wow the
guitar intro is so cool, I really luv its tunes arrangement and the
harmony between the drum and the rhythmic effect, although its have a lot
of repeated stuff, the melody still heard cool, especially when the
composer put more grunge element which is continued by metal element
through bass distortion in coda, its also worth sparing your time to
listen too :D.
New World
'We Are’, whoaaaa in this song
there's cool string background which's played with great orchestra. Rock
tunes which's combined with string stuff is the most collaboration part
that I luv so much (like most songs in album Jade Butterfly and Prophecy -
霆鋒). Ohhhh yea I found some
Christmas music element haha^^ , although there's no Santa Claus in the MV
:D, but its give me feeling for inviting Santa to the town through this
cool song, okay I think it's happy song, so it's not heard much
cello and contra bass stuff which usually found in satire song, but the
coda tunes is cool, I really luv it yaaayyy^^
'Rumble Fish’, which belongs to the rock
genre, stands for which become their element. It's started by vocal and
then followed with repeating electric tunes also staccato drum
rhythmic background. the tunes sounds like one of laruku song, so familiar
hehe^^. I dunno wut element that's described by color green Tosca in
its MV :P (if u see the banner and this page before, I used rumble fish
theme). Green Peace again o_0??, so I assume that their favorite color are
green luv and peace lha^^.
Break Of Dawn
'Oasis', it's
Rock song ^-^, started with electric drums and then voice effect (like Linkin Park songs), it's great especially its background is almost covered
with electric guitar playing, and as usually there's solo guitar playing
from Ryo in choda and the end of this song. It's completed by far effect
from Tomiko voice (like almost of Nic' songs in Reborn album). There's
acoustic style from this song, there's Tomiko said hmm hmmm and Ryo said
'arigatou gozaimasu' then followed by acoustic guitar playing.
'Heart', luv
the acoustic sounds at intro also at the whole song, and I feel
there's traditional guitar sounds in this song which's arranged suitably
with its style, its electric guitar sounds different, maybe there's
computer effect in there (usually created by Dai Nagao). This song sounds
satire feeling coz there's a lot of minor tunes, but it's still
dynamic through its music arrangement. In its MV, it shows clearly
how dark this song, at sunset until night in forest also river, but
I attracted with guitar that Nagao used in there he he (I've seen it
before in Nirvana unplugged show in MTV), it's really cool ^-^
'Raven', it's
really grunge, the intro is began with acoustic and some tune effect from
electric guitar. I like this style coz Tomiko voice sounds more deep and
meaning for describing how dark is the song. Especially when its continue
to the chorus, got emotional feeling when listen it. Also the choda is
marvellous too, there's some cello background which's growing up until
there's loud tunes of its electric guitar solo. The ending got amazing
loop guitar which really suit the character of this song. I'm absolutely
adore this track.
'Painful',
This song is unique and different from other DAI songs, coz Ryo raps in
the beginning and then followed by Tomiko's singing, also there's little
hip hop style in its rhythm, maybe the reason's there's rap, but it's cool
coz at the end there's electric guitar layered with electric
drums.
'Face’ ,
this one sounds typical like Tangerine dream, many acoustic guitar
element, folk oldies rhythm with nice tunes composition, but it's on more
medium beat but still dynamic (Tangerine is more quite ^^).
I really like
the pleasing musical and is ably assisted by the
background layer through the bass, acoustic, tunes from keyboard and
electric guitar which's arranged perfectly by combination with cascade
drum rhythmic .
'Tangerine Dream', this song
mostly layered with acoustic performance which give u feel back to the
70's folk rock era. The guitar element as its intro and a whole background part from this
song are simple but nice. It’s seems quiet and its doesn’t need more growing up tunes also some louder things,
coz the atmosphere is just in there. Yea, in each bar there’s some moving break up bar which can suit its rhythm.
'Yesterday
And Today', this song is soundtrack from Japanese drama 'Hero' (starring
by Takuya Kimura and Takako Matsu). I really luv this song, basically this
one's slow and its melody can tremble your mind after heard it. It's
started with keyboard sounds, acoustic and nice stringed playing and
then covered by soft voice from Tomiko. There is electric guitar
playing in choda follow by slow alternative style from rhythm of drum. I
really like its orchestra playing as the music background, especially at
the end of this song, there's voice effect from Tomiko and other backing
singers.
