Youth Call is a non profit making youth servicing organization working in the field of sustainable development. It was officially formed on the 21st of July, 2007 as Tukombo Youth Organization, with an aim of empowering the youth to participate in issues of development.
The Organization is based at Tukombo, a community in Nkhatabay South Constituency, in the Area of V/H Zilakoma, T/A Zilakoma in Nkhatabay District in Malawi.
We call all youths, Youth servicing organizations to empower the youth to take part in developing their communities. Remember, Together we can make poverty History. Background On The Programmes
Youth Call is a non-profit making organization working with the youth as the primary targets, their families and communities to meet their developmental needs. Our coal aim is to develop our capacities and address various development challenges, socially, economically, culturally and politically in order to meet people’s needs. Most significantly, Youth Call intends to empower the marginalized with information, skills and techniques to live a long and fulfilling life.
Our Programmes
To address its objectives, Youth Call recognizes the need to employ a multifaceted approach. For that, Youth Call activities rotate around the following programmes.
Health, Food Security and Nutrition Management
The programme goal is to improve the healthy and nutritional standards of communities especially women, the youth, children, PLWHA.
Quality Education Support
The goal is to improve access, quality, management and sustainability of basic education. In addition, this programme also intends to enhance and promote the development of strong and viable local institutions that will effectively manage their own development processes in sustainable way. The projects to be/under way in this programme include Participation and Retention of Girls and Disadvantaged Children in Primary Education, Adolescent Development and Participation and Rights of the Girl Child, and support sector reform. Through this programme, Youth Call intends to establish various community media like a community radio.
Prevention and management of HIV and AIDS.
The goal of this programme is to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS infection, mitigate the health, socio-economic and psychosocial impacts of HIV/AIDS on individuals, families, communities and he nation at large. Pillars for this programme include: Prevention and bahaviour Change; Treatment, Care and Support; Mitigation: Socio-Economic and Psychosocial;
Socio-Economic, integrated rural development and Sustainable Livelihood
The goal is to reduce poverty by achieving sustainable economic growth and community driven programmes to ensure sustainable livelihood of the people.
Human Rights, Governance and Democracy
Through this programme, Youth Call strives to consolidate democracy, advocate for the observation of human rights and making service providers and duty bearers accountable to the right holders. On human rights, the focus is on rights of the PLWHA, Rights of women, children and young people.
Water and Environmental Sanitation
Youth Call strives to help improve hygiene, increase access to clean and safe water and sanitation through three projects: Integrated Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion, School Sanitation, Hygiene Education and Life skills, and Community Sanitation and Education.
Youth Call also strives to protect the rights of future generations through sustainable management of the environment.
Community Media
Youth Call also intends to foster the establishment of community media and interactive communication through establishment of community/farm radios, newspapers and magazines.
