Welcome to Austin's Camp Building Bridges Home Site.
Camp Building Bridges served as a "Pilot" Program for 2008 and with GREAT success of the program it has now been adopted by the Oklahoma/Arkansas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. The camp program was created through the inspiration of our now 14 year old son Austin, whom we have seen struggle with the emotions and pain that this disease inflicts upon its victims.
Camp Building Bridges held its first successful camp program at Camp Classen in Davis, Oklahoma, July 6th-12th. We had an AWESOME group of ten young teens that are in the caregiving role to a parent/grandparent with dementia. There was a one day session of educational classes held that provided them with alot of helpful information and insight to take home and hopefully make their role of caregiving just alittle easier. We are now in the process of figuring out which direction the camp is going. I look forward to another camp session for 2009, so please check back periodically for updates and changes.
*PLEASE NOTE THAT AUSTIN'S CAMP BUILDING BRIDGES IS OPEN TO ALL ORGANIZATIONS, ASSOCIATIONS AS WELL AS FAMILIES*
Come on in, sit down and take your shoes off and visit for a spell. Don't forget to come back and see us for periodic changes.
