About Us
The Christopher Newport University Young Democrats were formed in 2002 on the campus of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. The club has grown from 10 members to an organization containing 50+ members who are actively involved on campus and in the community. We are a part of the Virginia Young Democrats, Young Democrats of America, College Democrats of America, and the Newport News Democratic City Committee. We support the Democratic Party in its ideas and goals.
Our goals are:
- To support and elect Democratic candidates for public office
- To widen and increase the interest and knowledge of young people in government and the political process
- To train and develop young people for positions of leadership
- To increase the role of under-represented people in our Party, government, and society
- To serve those in need in our community
