You Don't Know Emo

"So can we take the next hour to talk about me" - THE NARRATOR: Dorian Black

Whose Holly Dixon? Well, for one, that's an alias. Or maybe it's not. You never know, do ya? I live a simple life, in Hillsboro, Oregon, a city that I've grown to enjoy immensely. I spend most of my time reading, watching movies, or listening to music. Music is, of course, the one thing actually keeping me stable, even though those who know me know that I'm as mentally stable as a young Syd Barrett.

I'm also the creator of the weblog entitled This Temporary Life, which is advertised on our frontpage, and, as you can see, our sidebar, because shameless plugs are absolutely fabulous. I'm advertising the blog any way I can, and since YDKE has a following of sorts, I figure, why not advertise here? Even if you dislike this site, give it a read. It has nothing to do with Emo, although it shows that both YDKE and This Temporary Life are written by the same person. I made the blog one morning while frustrated about the downfall of modern society, and I've found it gives me a place to rant about my distaste for things in American culture. I imagine it will mostly be about, as said, American culture, but it's the sort of thing that anyone should be able to understand, or rather dislike immensely.
I've just created the blog, so I'm trying to get it off the ground and maybe find a small following. I doubt that will happen, but hell, I didn't even expect my friends to pay attention to YDKE, and look what's happened with that.

On the subject of the semi-popularity, I couldn't be more grateful for the found success. I originally signed up for our FreeWebs account on a summer afternoon, on my grandparents' computer, just so that I could vent my frustration for all of the posts about Taking Back Sunday on the Emo board of the now-shitty website Bolt.com (don't bother with that site!). I honestly didn't expect for people to simultaneously enjoy and despise the site, and as stated, I couldn't be more grateful to the fans and haters alike. You give me a reason to keep this site running, really. Most people notice that I welcome open hatred for the site, and I personally find it to be a mark of success. If everyone loves you, you've reached the top, and have nowhere else to go but down. If people see you as a reason for rage, it means people are actually willing to sacrafice their energy and mindspace for their negative image of you.
Never forget: It's better to be hated for who you are, then loved for who you're not.

I only beat you when I'm drunk (Brian's Blurb)

I'm the only one here who isn't completely elitist, but when I am, I'm just as brutal. I've been kinda watching this site ever since it started so it's cool to officially be a part now. I really like to rant, listen to woman hating music, and I like it brutal and fast. You decide what I'm talking about. Oh yeah, and I my life is guided by the rules of High Fidelity.
