Twinning Association & Students...

Almost every year, a group of students from York, Pennsylvania studying french and a group of students studying german apply for a trip through the York Twinning Association to either Arles, France or Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany. The students spend months preparing for the trip and eventually spend about three weeks in France or Germany.

France

Our twinning with Arles, France began in 1954. Dr Victoria Lyles

and Marguerite Eriksson, teachers of the french language in York City

elementary schools, were leaders in creating the twinning as a way

to promote cultural understanding and peace.
