Ella Riley's Toffee and Traditional Sweet Shop is based in Horbury Bridge, just outside Wakefield on the A642 to Hudderfield from Wakefield.
If you are visiting us in a car and you are using a sat nav then please use the postcode WF4 5PP to find us. There is on road parking outside the shop which is free or we do have the kind permission of the landladies of both the Ship Inn and the Horse and Jockey to use their carparks too.
If you are coming via bus then you need to catch the 231, 232 or the 265 from Wakefield to Huddersfield/Netherton. From Huddersfield you need the 231 or 232 buses. From Dewsbury you need to catch 128 to Wakefield via Horbury.
If you are coming from further afield on the trains then you ned to get off at Wakefield Westgate where you can get a taxi to our shop for approx £5-£10 fare or you can catch a bus from directly outside the station and across the road (just beneath the rail bridge)
Once in Horbury Bridge look for our shop behind the Ship Inn pub, we;ve got the maroon canopy outside with Ella Riley's written on it.
Once inside our shop you will be transported back to another time. From the shelves groaning with old fashioned sweets in jars, to our pick and mix (a firm favourite with cinema goers!) through to the wonderful smell of the toffee being produced on a daily basis. We're sure there will be something for everyone...from toffee lovers discovering our own toffee and other brands such as Walker's Nonsuch, Invalid Butter Toffee, Chewing Nuts and a locally produced banana toffee, through to sweets such as Wham bars, popping candy, anglo bubbly, sticks of spanish and cream soda, and mojos...the list is endless. Washed down with either a homemade ice cream which we also make on the premises or a traditional can of pop such as dandelion and burdock, or cloudy lemonade from Ben Shaws (remember returning the bottles to get 10p?) There's sure to be something you remember, so don't dilly dally - come and visit us today.
We're open every day (except Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Years day) with doors opening at 10am Monday to Saturday and a lie in for us on Sunday when we open at 11am. We close every day at 6pm.
