The following information was sent by John Watson.

John worked at Yorkshire Main from 1974 untill 85 and then on to Hatfield until 1990.

He started face training at yorkshire main in 1976 on Xo2s then onto Do6s, Do8s, Do7s retreat face and then onto D20s.

John was face charge man on 3 coal faces, Do8s, Do7s and D20s.

The two installation agreements below show the details of two coal faces, B44s and D07s, which include the size of the gates, length of coal face and the depth of the coal seam etc.

 

 

Rest days where extra holidays that miners could put in at short notice, usually on a monday morning or friday night.
