YORKSHIRE MAIN COLLIERY

The following are extracts from reports made at Yorkshire Main between 1963 and 1966 by the Area Safety Inspector.  They make very interesting reading and give an insite into the work of mining inspectors and miners of the time and their working conditions.  The first 2 reports are concerning the maltby Main and Yorkshire Main connection roadway.  The report also covers areas such as pit bottom inspections, surface visits, inspections to developments, the build up of gas, the problem of heatings (fires), salvage and gas testing etc. [The first report is a little blurred].
