The picture below is of a self rescuer which every miner wore on his belt in case of a fire below ground.It protected the miner from carbon monoxide fumes given of by fires.

The last days of steam at yorkshire main. The steam train by the name of the yorkshire main pilot makes its last journey to the mine in 1966.

The next set of pictures were sent to me from the Astley green colliery museum in lancashire and show the underground locomotive No 17 which worked at yorkshire main untill the 1980s, it was then sent to Ashington central workshops for overhaul and then on to Ellington colliery. The museum also has locos from Bentley colliery , Brodsworth, Rossington and thorne colliery. Does anyone remember this particular loco working at the mine, if so let me know.
