DOSCO DINTHEADERS AND ROAD HEADERS

The Dosco dintheader was developed from the Dosco miner, a short wall production machine inported from Canada in 1955, Dosco in conjunction with the NCB copied them as the Dintheader.

Dosco made over 500 Dintheaders and one of the original two trial machines was delivered to yorkshire main on the 10th april 1967.

The plan below shows the Dosco miner at work on the coal face.

The MK2 DRCL (dosco roadway cutter loader) was the first British roadheader used in the UK back in 1964, Dosco made over 270 between 1964 and 1978 when the MK2 was replaced by the MK2A.

The last remaining working MK2 is at Cap house colliery and is fully operational, it was overhauled by Dosco some years ago.

Between 1970 and 1986 Dosco produced 963 MK2A machines and the records show that yorkshire main took delivery of its first MK2A in 1975.
