Miss Meg

15.3 HH EFA Reg 15 years young TB

Miss Meg is a talented competitor in all disciplines including Hacking, ODE's, Combined Training, Dressage, Pony/Adult Riding Club etc. Her recent events include Pre Novice at Reynella HT; Preliminary Class and Introductory Division - Kirkcaldy HT in 2008. In her Intro Class in March 2008, she placed second overall and was clear cross country.

As she breezed through her Intro Class, she was entered into the Preliminary Division at Kirkcaldy HT to see how she would go. Although she didnt place, she went clear cross country and looked right at home. She scored time penelties this time round as her rider/trainer set his watch for a minute too long! Doh!! None the less, she was bold and eager and didnt hesitate at any of the jumps.

Miss Meg was extensively schooled throughout the year (just before and after EI hit) where she attended numerous SJ and XC clinics as well as being professionally schooled by her trainer at home and out on XC courses.  As she was doing so well schooling over CNC* and CNC** fences on XC training days and jumping 1.30 easily at home, we felt she was ready for Pre Novice at Reynella HT in May 2008. Although she didnt place, she was eager and keen and did not hesitate. She went clear cross country and had a couple of rails in the SJ phase due to "rider error" Ryan's words not mine!! She would benefit from spending competition time in this division consolidating her talent and gaining confidence before asking her to move to CNC*.

Incidently, we decided to enter her into the Preliminary division (and not Pre Novice) this time at Monarto HT in October 2008, as she wasn't as fit as she was in May (as she was for her Pre Novice comp). Once again, she ate up the XC course and went clear XC and SJ.

Miss Meg is the type of horse who wants to please, whilst at the same time is forward moving and sensitive to aids. You do not have to kick her to push her on at all. She is more suited to a rider with experience in the eventing phase in particular, as she is free moving and bold and isnt happy just plodding around the course or being held back with heavy hands.

Miss Meg is a stunning type- with long legs and a very pretty head. She is known by my fellow pony clubbers as "The Elle McPherson" of the club! In her previous competition life, she won many champion and supreme champion ribbons with her previous owner. The majority of her show career has been in hacking, so as a result, she has been very well looked after and does not have the normal "wear and tear" an eventer would have from many years of eventing.

Ryan Fletcher- a CNC* eventer, a member of the SA Young Rider's squad and Miss Meg's trainer- has been overseeing her jump work and describes her as being a "very talented horse indeed". She is schooling 1.30+ at home and is improving in her ability to manage the more technical lines. Her flat work and education is established and her walk is the die for. She scores high in the walk and loves to stretch down into the contact on the free walk (often scoring 8's and 9's here). Her dressage scores are consistently in the 60's.

She always commands attention due to her pretty presense and feels right at home in the hack ring, dressage arenas, Ag shows, training clinics and Pony Club gatherings and doing PC activities. The only thing she gets concerned about is the flag and pole event as she thinks the pole is a whip and gets concerned that it is going to get her (when you go to pick it up from the stand!) She seems to hate the whip but she dosent need it anyway!

Miss Meg enjoys trail riding and going to the beach. She also enjoys attending many cross country and show jumping clinics with Wendy Schaeffer and Megan Jones.

She is a sensitive mare and reacts well to a confident and competent rider. She looks to the rider for guidence and responds well to them even if they put her under pressure. For this reason, she isnt suited to a beginner rider, or a rider looking to gain their confidence on a horse. Or alternatively, she would be suited to a competent rider looking for an all rounder.

She is soooo quiet on the ground and you can even slide off her back and bum to dismount. She will stand tied up all day at comps without any issue and her teeth are done regulary and is a dream to shoe.

She is regretfully for sale for $4000 and is currently in light work a couple of times a week. Loving and caring home a must as this is a sad sale of a treasured friend. Vet check welcome.
