Some basic requirements
- You must live in the U.S.
- You DON'T need to pay shipping and handling
- You DON'T need a credit card
- It is totally free as long as you follow these steps
To receive your free iPod
- Click here first to go to the Free iPods website. Choose the iPod you want, (the 20 Gig white one is most worth it), then put in an email adress you want to use. My advice is to not use your main e-mail adress, just use a yahoo or hotmail one. Put a password then go on to the next step. It will ask you for your address, put your correct mailing address (you can always change it when it comes time for them to ship it)
- They will ask you if you want to take a survey, click "No Thanks". They might ask if you want a bunch of other stupid things, just keep clicking no thanks (a little annoying but its worth going through the trouble to get a totally free iPod :)
- Now that you signed up, log in, then check your e-mail to verify. If you did not receive an email go to the My Account page and click the link to send the verification email. (Some people said they had problems with hotmail emails)
- Now you must complete an offer on their website. If you don't have a credit card you can do the ebay offer which is completely FREE! Skip down to see instructions on
the different options for completing offers. (It can take up to a few days for them to know you completed an offer)
- Refer 5 friends and have them complete 1 of the offers each
- Wait for your iPod to ship =)
When signing up and completing offers, always use Internet Explorer. Free iPods does not work with Firefox, or any other browser (to my knowledge).
The eBay Offer
eBay is back, and seems to be here to stay.
Make an account, supply a valid, non-free-webmail address, and bid on an item.
Here is STEP BY STEP how to complete the ebay offer WITHOUT a credit card:
- Click the ebay offer link, here is a picture:
- In the ebay window, make sure it has the freeipods website in the address bar, and it says free ipods at the top of the screen like this:
(if it does, click register, if not, close the window, go back to the first step heh)
- Now, make sure it still says free ipods at the top of the screen (see the picture), fill out the ebay info CORRECTLY (if you are under 18, you can always use your parents name if you ask them nicely).
Now this is important: YOU CANT USE A yahoo or hotmail E-MAIL TO SIGN UP UNLESS YOU HAVE A CREDIT CARD! E-mail's you can use include: verizon, aol, comcast, OR walla.com has free e-mail that ebay doesnt mind if you use.
- OK, now finish your registration with ebay and check your email account for the confirmation (this might take a few hours to come ).
- Now that you have your ebay account, you need to make ONE bid. Now, if you dont want to pay anything, your going to have to make sure that you DONT WIN THE AUCTION!!!. Basically, search ebay for something expensive, for example a playstation 2. Sort them by price, so that you find a playstation 2 at like $3, which you know you will never win. Click bid now, then put your cheap price like $5. MAKE SURE YOU ARE THE HIGHEST BIDDER. If it says you were outbid, its best to find another one. When you are the high bidder you will get this email:
- Wait until you are outbid, and the auction ends:
Yaaay! You are now finished! Wait a few days and your freeipods account will be credited!
eBay FAQ:
- Q: Do I have to become the high bidder on an auction to get credit?
A: Yes! Bid on an item that is recently listed. If you are automatically outbid by someone else's proxy bid, find another item!
- Q: What do I do if I get a "not logged in" error?
A: Click here, then click "Existing Members Login", log in and proceed.
- Q: How long do eBay offers take to go through?
A: It varies! Sometimes it's as quick as a day. There are some people that have been waiting almost a week!
- Q: eBay asks me (or a referral of mine) to create a Seller's Account after signing up. What do I do?
A: Click the eBay logo at the top of the page and bid on an item.
- Q: I've heard that logging into your eBay account a day after you place your bid helps to get you credit for your offer! Is that true?
A: There have been conflicting reports. Some people claim that it helps.
- Q: My eBay offers are taking FOREVER to complete! Is there anything I can do?
A: Here's a proven method: Send an email to offers@gratisinternet.com with the subject: "Offers problem". In there, say you bid but havent been credited. Copy and paste your ebay registration email in the body of the message. This has been reported to give eBay offer credit is as little as 10 minutes!
- Q: If I already have an eBay account, can I still complete the eBay offer?
A: Yes, if you create another account. eBay Terms of Service allow multiple accounts per person. There is nothing in the TOS at FreeiPods that says you cannot do it. When you do sign up for eBay, be sure to use a free email service such as Walla.com. Walla.com is a tried and true email service for getting eBay credit. If you try to create an eBay account with a free webmail provider such as Hotmail or Yahoo, you will have to give them a credit card number for verification.
Options besides eBay
Note: These offers require a Credit Card to complete. (just use the ebay offer if you dont have a credit card).
- AOL w/ MusicNet: Sign up for their 45 day free trial then call and cancel the account with AOL. (1-800-827-6364) (Function on IRC says 1-888-265-8008 is a better number for cancellations [Unconfirmed])
- Ancestry.com: Sign up for their 14 day free trial then call and cancel the account with Ancestry.com (1-800-262-3787)
- Video Professor: This costs $7 or so, but you get it back when you cancel the account. Sign up, and then call them to cancel. (1-800-525-7763)
If you do not wish to share your credit card, there are options available. Many banks will sell you "charged" cards that have a certain amount of funds on them. Additionally, PayPal Premium Business customers may use a "Virtual Credit Card" to register for one of the above, and then cancel it right afterwards.
(note: These pictures were taken a little while ago, since then they have upgraded to 20 gigs, but they used to have 15 gig :)
