Most little ones have one of these:
I'm talking about the blankie, of course! What's all that stuff on it, you ask? Some might call it scrumbling, we call them patches--to cover holes. My 6 year old still treasures this blankie as much as the day she was born, and the blankie has needed many repairs--the biggest surgery was when we had to trim off 3 inches from each side and re-do the crochet edging. She loves to rub her fingers on it when she needs comforting. With many washings come many holes, so she gave me permission to turn her blankie into a piece of art. Each hole or tear gets covered by a crocheted patch. She tells me what she wants the patches to be, and I fix them while she's at school--because she hates to watch. I swear that blankie is a person as far as she is concerned!
Stay tuned, because I'll take more pictures as I add more patches in the future!
I finally got my entry done for the craftster.org crochet challenge, inspired by food. These dresses are addicting and I couldn't stop after just one. Here are a couple of clearer pictures:
Now I'm going to give my poor wrists and fingers a rest for a day or two--we'll see if I can keep my promise. It's hard to say no.
P.S. The pattern is in my etsy shop! www.djonesgirlz.etsy.com
I made a new amigurumi pig this week as a gift. Isn't she sweet?
Since I do custom orders for people, I get requests for things that there aren't many cute patterns for, so I make up my own stuff. I wrote out the pattern for this one (which is a terribly tedious job, by the way), and put it in my etsy shop: www.djonesgirlz.etsy.com
